Review & Giveaway ❤️ The Art of Running in Heels by Rachel Gibson

Running in five-inch stilettos is an art form

Leaving your fiancé at the altar on live television is a disaster. Lexie Kowalsky thought she was ready to get married in front of millions of people, but at the last minute she fled the set of television’s hottest reality show, Gettin’ Hitched. Wearing a poofy white dress and a pair of five-inch sparkly shoes, Lexie hopped a float plane for Sandspit, Canada. She figured no one would find her there. But she was wrong.

Sharing her flight was the Seattle Chinooks biggest star, Sean Knox. Lexie wasn’t just a reality-show runaway, she was his pain in the butt coach’s daughter. She was chaos and temptation and definitely off limits, but getting her luscious body out of that wedding gown, he couldn’t resist getting her in his bed for one amazing night.

Then a photo of Sean and Lexi breaks the internet—and suddenly they’re both swept up in a crazy plan to spin the whole story. But you can’t run from love—

Lexie Kowalsky makes a mad dash away from her fiancé in front of the whole world. She should have never decided to find love on a reality dating show. She has to find a way to fix her problems and save her image from further damage. She heads straight for the airport to get out of the states. She never planned on sharing her ride with Sean Knox.

Sean didn’t plan on a white poof storming on his plane and creating chaos in his life. He also didn’t plan on noticing her boobs and pretty face. When she plans a scheme for him to play a part in fixing her reputation, he reluctantly goes along but he realizes that messing with his coach’s daughter is more than he bargains for.

Ah! It has been such a long time since I read a Rachel Gibson book. It feels like going back to something familiar, something cozy. While this is not my favorite Gibson novel, I did enjoy it for what it is. Lexie’s parents are in book one of the series and that still remains my favorite book.

Lexie brings more to the story in my opinion than Sean. She is kind of flighty and all over the place but she wants to correct her public image. I felt the sincerity of her emotions toward Sean. Lexie is a bit annoying and weird but she is more realistic than Sean. I love that she stuffs things in her bra. I can totally relate.

Sean is not my favorite male character. He never seems genuine. I honestly wanted another hero for Lexie. He is fascinated with her boobs and hooking up. He never shows emotions until the end when he realizes that he love her. She should have made him grovel for it too!

I love that we got to revisit the family that jumpstarted the series. I love the humor in the story. However, the lack of character development took away from the series. The love scenes were definitely hot and I wanted that same intensity to play outside of the bedroom

Overall, this is a light, fun and quick contemporary romance. Fans of Ms. Gibson will enjoy getting reacquainted with the series.

  1. I have been waiting forever for this book! It’s been in my Amazon shopping list for a long time. It’s funny as I had just read her newsletter and POW! in pops your news about the giveaway. I’m taking that as a sign of luck. I LOVE Rachel’s books. 🙂 Happy New Year, Beverley! Everybody!

  2. SIMPLY IRRESISTIBLE has been on my Wish List forever. I have read such wonderful reviews and comments about it. It is unfortunate that she doesn’t develop the hero sufficiently. That lack of development in any major character does impact the quality of the story. Thank you for your thoughts on THE ART OF RUNNING IN HIGH HEELS and the giveaway.

  3. I love Rachel’s books! I consider the Chinook series the original books that started my love of reading hockey romance ever since the first book in the series came out. Thanks for the chance!
