Review & Giveaway ❤️ Wrong to Need You by Alisha Rai

He wasn’t supposed to fall in love with his brother’s widow…

Accused of a crime he didn’t commit, Jackson Kane fled his home, his name, and his family. Ten years later, he’s come back to town: older, wiser, richer, tougher—and still helpless to turn away the one woman he could never stop loving, even after she married his brother.

Sadia Ahmed can’t deal with the feelings her mysterious former brother-in-law stirs, but she also can’t turn down his offer of help with the cafe she’s inherited. While he heats up her kitchen, she slowly discovers that the boy she adored has grown into a man she’s simply unable to resist.

An affair is unthinkable, but their desire is undeniable. As secrets and lies are stripped away, Sadia and Jackson must decide if they’re strong enough to face the past…and step into a future together.

Alisha Rai’s writing is just so easy that you get lost in the story. There is a hint of realism laced in that I can appreciate with each one of the stories. I loved how the author tackles the complex family dynamics for both Sadia and Jackson.

Sadia is way more complex than just a struggling widow. Just thinking of the book’s description, I felt like this was going to be the typical deceased husband’s brother coming in to save the day kind of story. Instead, Sadia and Jackson’s relationship is heavily influenced more so by who they are as individuals.  Sadia is deeply hurt that she lost her friendship with Jackson throughout the years. She hated that he left after being shamed for a crime that he didn’t even commit in the town. Even though she was married to Paul, she felt alone and needed that friendship.

Jackson’s pain runs deep. His family feud with the Chandlers (Hate to Want You) probably left him most scarred than any of the other characters. His returning is to try to heal some of the wounds but his love for Sadia is conflicting with his flighty personality. He has always loved her but she was married to his brother. I kept wondering how Sadia never picked up on it when everyone did.

More secrets are revealed and some of the conflicts are wrapped up so nicely that it takes away from the story. We learned who really committed the crime that Jackson was accused of and even then it is sort of weak and just makes the excuse for everyone to forgive him and move on.

I love that Sadia is open sexual and is not afraid of what she likes. It makes her so much more real and authentic as a character. Jackson slowly evolves from a man who likes to stay to himself to integrating into his own family and accepting the love given to him.

I look forward to the next book in the series. I’m sure we will get more dirt and scandal from this family.
