Review ❤️ Knuckle Down by Chantal Fernando

As a single father of two girls and the sergeant at arms for the Cursed Ravens Motorcycle Club, Jack “Knuckles” Chester doesn’t have much free time. And having earned his road name from his reputation as a fighter, Knuckles isn’t one to back away from a challenge.

But what he’ll never admit out loud is that his two daughters have changed him irrevocably, softened him even. And these two girls are the only women who will ever hold his heart forever. That is, until he meets Celina.

Celina is nothing like the women Knuckles used to date. She’s a journalist for the local newspaper, and basically just has her life together. And the last thing she wants is to be involved with a Cursed Raven. But when the ripped, badass biker worms his way into her heart, she has trouble remembering all the reasons they would never work.

But when a shocking story is published her newspaper, it breaks the thin trust she has with Knuckles. Will she lose him forever? Or will Knuckles fight to keep Celina in his life?

Knuckle Down
picks up right where the first book leaves off. Celina is intrigued by Knuckles aka Jack Chester. He is the sergeant at arms of the Cursed Ravens MC. He is a single dad to two beautiful girls and they alongside the club are the main driving force of his life. There is not too much time for anything else but meeting Celina changes things for him.

I liked this one but I didn’t necessarily love it. Celina is a lot more mature than Erin was in book 1. I’m guessing because of her age and she has more experience. Celina is a journalist and is trying to prove her worth at the paper she works for. She wants a front page story and the only way she will get that coveted spot is putting the Cursed Ravens on blast.

I saw the conflict coming a mile away and wondered how it would all play out. The author did not let the conflict or drama take up too much space in the book or the relationship. Knuckles is initially hurt and rightfully so but he learns to trust Celina. This is so difficult for him after everything he has been through with his baby mama.

Things move a bit too quickly in this story. The characters start off slow but once they fall in bed, everything kind of happens so quickly. Celina and Knuckles are in love. Conflict occurs. There is another story ploy introduced and everything is just wrapped up so neatly. Since everything moved so quickly I didn’t have a chance to actually have real emotions towards the characters or the story.

As far as the biker theme goes in this series, it is much tamer than some of the biker stories I have read. I like the family vibe I get from the club. The men are loyal and ready for anything which is always good. I think the fact that the women are younger throws me off because it gives off a New Adult feel to each story so far.

I look forward to the next book in the series.
