Review ❤️ Forever in Cape May by Jennifer Probst

Taylor Sunshine and Pierce Powers vowed to keep things platonic. They already have the best of each other: loyalty, friendship, and trust. Why ruin the perfect relationship? That kind of forever love isn’t in the picture anyway for a restless, aspiring artist like Taylor. Her sights are set beyond the horizon of Cape May and Sunshine Bridal.

The oceanfront hometown is part of Pierce’s heart—just like Taylor is. And it breaks at the thought of her leaving. As her closest friend since high school, he supports her desires, even if she must follow them away from Cape May. But when their defenses are down, all it takes is one impulsive, vulnerable night to change all the rules.

From old friends to overnight lovers, they make a new pact: explore a summer fling, no strings attached. But as the nights heat up and their connection grows deeper, hard choices must be faced. As summer nears its end, will Taylor and Pierce fulfill their individual dreams? Or are new dreams just beginning to come true?

Taylor always had her sights set on places far away from Cape May. She is an aspiring artist and while her life is in Cape May, her dreams aren’t. Everyone understands that including her friend, Pierce or at least she thinks.

Pierce loves everything about Cape May. He knows Taylor plans to leave soon and he is fine with that until the one night they take their friendship to another level. Now, they both try to navigate their new feelings while containing a summertime romance.

I enjoyed this friends to lover story so much. I guess I was looking for a summer romance read and this fit the bill. Pierce is so sweet and understanding. He tries so hard not to encroach on Taylor’s ambitions and desires.  He has known her forever and sees exactly who she is.

Taylor on the other hand gave me lukewarm emotions at times. Her antics and behavior are sometimes childish. She is very stubborn and at times I wish she would have taken time to understand what was going on like Pierce did.

The chemistry between them is smoldering. Initially, I didn’t know if I really brought into them wanting a friends with benefits relationship due to the emphasis of their platonic friendship but as the story went along, I found them adorable. The friendship adds a nice layer to their blossoming love story.

While this tickled my fancy the predictability of the story is what held me back from a five star rating. I wish there was a twist or maybe some more angst to give the story a push. I definitely recommend this book and I plan to go back and read the other books in the series to get my small town romance thrill.
