All it takes….

After a childhood spent cavorting around Europe with a dangerous crowd, Miss Isobel Tinker has parlayed her experience and language skills into a safe, reliable life. Working as a clerk in Mayfair’s Everland Travel Shop, she dreams of someday owning her own travel agency and has vowed never to leave the familiar shores of England ever again. When a handsome duke arrives at her doorstep, she realizes her staid existence is about to take flight.

…is faith and hope

Jason “North” Beckett, the Duke of Northumberland, desperately needs a travel guide. He’s inherited a dukedom but has a final mission for the Foreign Office—rescuing his wayward cousin from Nordic pirates. Isobel Tinker is the ideal translator, discreet and unknown, but she’s also uncooperative, stubborn, and disarmingly beautiful.

And a little bit of trust

In exchange for her help, North promises Miss Tinker her own travel agency upon return and strict professionalism at sea. Isobel cautiously agrees but soon realizes “strict” and “professional” are not how she would describe her feelings for the irresistible duke. As their adventure sweeps them to the shores of Iceland and beyond, can temptation and growing trust give way to the magic of wild, passionate love?

Isobel Tinker has had her fun when she was younger, and now at the ripe old of age of twenty-seven she wants nothing more than to settle down and work at a travel shop giving young ladies their once in a lifetime trip to see the world. Jason Beckett, Duke of Northumberland, has other ideas. He needs Isobel as a translator and guide to venture to Iceland with him to rescue his cousin from a band of pirates who have taken them prisoner.

“Inside her mind and her heart, hidden where no one could see, her response had been the most wonderful sort of unfurling. She’d heard everything he’d said from the smallest half sentence to the declaration that he “valued” her too much to trade. The words had been a warm sun thawing soil. Her heart had sprung up, growing from a hard seed, buried deep, into a life that wanted to flourish.”

This book was an adventure from the beginning to the end.  A fairy tale retelling of Peter Pan and Tinkerbell that was full of life, unconventional characters, and heart stopping romance. I enjoyed this story with all the quirky characters. Isobel was fearless and unexpected. I found her so refreshing once she opened up and explained her back story. There was so much heartbreak in her young life that it really endeared her to me. Jason was wonderful too because he never judged Isobel for her parentage or her past mistakes. He was always kind to her and showed her his love in many different ways. Their relationship was syrupy sweet and exceptionally fun. I bet this couple will be going on many adventures together having the time of their lives.

This book wasn’t perfect though, and I think that is because at some points I found myself getting frustrated at Isobel when she was not trusting Jason even though he had given her absolutely every reason in the world to believe in him and his word. In my opinion, Jason is one of the most steadfast heroes that I have ever read. I feel like he is a constant and strong man who always supports Isobel even though she doesn’t see it. This kept going even through to the end where she would fully close herself off, and it even caused a misunderstanding between them that kept them parted for way too long in my opinion.

If you like less angsty reads full of adventure and romance like those of Anna Bennett or Amelia Grey then give this book a shot.
