Lucy Jorik’s the daughter of a former U.S. president.
Meg Koranda’s the offspring of legends.

One of them is about to marry Mr. Irresistible—Ted Beaudine—the favorite son of Wynette, Texas.

The other is determined to save her friend from a mess of heartache.

Meg knows breaking up her best friend’s wedding is the right thing to do, but no one else agrees. Faster than Lucy can say “I don’t,” Meg’s the most hated woman in town—and stuck there with a dead car, an empty wallet, and a very angry bridegroom. Broke, stranded, without her famous parents watching her back, Meg believes she can survive by her own wits. After all, what’s the worst that can happen? She’ll lose her heart to Mr. Irresistible?

Not likely. Not likely at all.

Review

Brilliant and Sexy

When Meg arrives in Wynette, Texas, for her best friend’s wedding, she is instantly put off by the town, its residents and their quirks.   Meg can’t wait to leave Wynette behind.  Unfortunately for Meg, her worst nightmares are about to come true when her best friend Lucy leaves her fiancé at the altar and disappears.  Everyone blames Meg for the break up and the broken heart their perfect Ted now carries. To Meg, it seems the town is far more upset over the lack of wedding than Mr. Irresistible, Ted Beudine. Now, Meg is stranded with no money, no friends and no way home.   Forced to stay in Wynette, a town that now hates her, to work at the local hotel to pay off her bill, Meg has no choice but to stand on her own two feet in order to get out of Wynette. A task that does not come easily for her, despite the issues she has with the town.  The last thing Meg expects is to fall in love…

Ted Beudine, son of Dallas and Francesca Beudine, is the star of Wynette, Texas.  Wynette is his town and the people of Wynette adore him.  When Lucy leaves Ted at the altar, Ted’s pride is hurt.  Suddenly her best friend and the pain-in- his ass, Meg, is everywhere and he can’t help but make life miserable for her.  Unfortunately for Ted, the person he likes the least is the one who sees through him and knows him best.  Realizing there is more to life then Wynette and its residents; Ted has to make a choice between love and obligation.  Like most males, the answer doesn’t come quickly, leaving Ted in danger of losing the love of his life, forever.

Fans of Susan Elizabeth Phillips are going to love this novel! While all her books stand on their own, Ms. Phillips has a charming way of occasionally including delightful characters from previous novels within her new novel, which is precisely what happens in Call Me Irresistible. While reading Meg and Ted’s story readers will meet up with Nealy Case and Mat Jorik from “First Lady”, Francesca and Dallie Beudine from “Fancy Pants” and Lady Emma from “Lady Be Good”, to name a few! Having read most of Phillips titles, I was thrilled to see the characters reappear in Meg and Ted’s story. Call Me Irresistible is the grown up story of Meg Koranda and Ted Beudine who have both appeared in their parents earlier novels.

Ms. Phillips amazes me with her writing! She took a cast of unlikable characters, for me, and slowly turned them into loveable characters, who became a part of me. The novel is full of romance, humor, mystery and colorful characters. I enjoyed “watching” Meg and Ted’s romance blossom. The novel definitely swept me away. As with all her titles, it was difficult to put down, making it irresistible in its own way. The characters in Call Me Irresistible are all very strong in personality. I have never read a book with characters that literally jump off the page, challenging the reader to take notice and engaging them in the drama of the storyline. Though a little overwhelming at first, it was quite amusing.

Call Me Irresistible is brilliant and sexy.  Though the novel has not replaced my favorite title of Susan’s novels but I would recommend it as your next read! Whether it’s the first, second or ninth book you’ve read by Susan, it is sure to bring enjoyment and keep you reading for hours. I suggest settling down with your favorite drink and reading snack. You won’t want to put this one down.
