Review
Bones and Cat are back and more powerful than ever. One Grave at a Time brings more laughs, action and an array of exciting characters to the paranormal genre.
Cat, alongside with her deliciously sexy husband Bones, has been through many ups and downs. Their last adventure has left the pair in need of some quiet down time. It just doesn’t seem to work out that way for them. Cat’s deceased uncle has yet to cross over and is now a ghost. She is desperately trying to help Don get to the other side but she has a bit of a problem. After drinking from the voodoo queen, she has inherited the power to attract and control ghosts.
Unfortunately for Cat and Bones, her new ability brings a new ghost (Elisabeth) into the picture that is requesting Cat’s help to hunt down a dangerous spirit. Years ago Elisabeth, a midwife, was accused of witchcraft by Heinrich Kramer and burned at the stake. After his death, Kramer has taken a ghostly form and on All Hallows Eve he takes physical form and kills three innocent women.
Since fighting Kramer is like fighting the air, Cat and Bones need all the help they can get. They get help from a Medium named Tyler and his ghost busting buddies. Together, all of them fight off Kramer and his cronies. This is a bit different from the ghouls and vampires they are use to fighting.
The new introduction of characters mixed with the old ones is fantastic blend. I absolutely loved Tyler. His flamboyant and funny lines or should I say thoughts about Bones and the other men are hilarious. He is one addition to the set of the characters that brings humor to some of the gruesome scenes.
My only complaint is that is that there is not enough heat from Bones and Cat as usual. The romance plays a back burner in this addition. However, the action is full force and the fighting scenes are great. The old characters make an appearance and the love between Spade and Denise is so sweet and emotional. I don’t want to give it away but there are some surprises with Denise and I almost cried at the end for her. I can’t wait for another installment. Frost has a winner on her hands with this series.
