Sugar Rush
Sawyer Bennett

Genre: Contemporary Romance
Series: Sugar Bowl
Book: 2

After posing as an escort for the Sugar Bowl online dating service, Sela Halstead is looking for one thing: payback. She’s closing in on the site’s heartless founder, Jonathon Townsend, and she needs Beckett North, Townsend’s business partner and her lover, by her side. She’d thought that their intimate nights together had forged an unbreakable bond, but after a shocking betrayal, Sela begins to doubt the brilliant bad boy. When push comes to shove, can she trust Beck to do the right thing?

Now that he understands the truth, Beck will stop at nothing to secure the reckoning Sela deserves. But between his desire for her and his disgust for JT, Beck doesn’t exactly have a lot of control over his emotional state. Left with no other choice, he must summon all his discipline to maintain JT’s trust and pretend that they’re still friends. But how far will Beck go to prove his loyalty to Sela? He nearly lost her once. To keep her, Beck might have to kill for her.

Note: Sugar Rush ends on a cliffhanger. Sela and Beck’s story concludes in Sugar Free!

Sela Halstead went in thinking she was going to take out JT for taking away her life. She ends up falling for his best friend, Beckett North. She tried to keep her goal as her focus but she couldn’t when she was being split by her new feelings for Beck. Now that the truth is out, will Beck forgive her? Can he help her take down his own friend and partner?

I went in scared that it would take Beck forever to forgive Sela for covering up the truth. My fears were eased early in the story. Beck and Sela are back together trying to figure out a way to take out Sela’s nemesis, JT. Some of the ideas that came from Sela made me roll my eyes. I’m not sure if Sela can go down as one of my favorite heroine. She is dark and twisted.

The pacing started to slow me down in this book. As for the first book, I moved through it at a faster speed. The constant sex and over the top crazy ideas turned into a repetitive cycle. They decide to bring in someone to help their crazy scheme to take down JT. This is when I started to lose my interest because we went right back into crazy again.

To top everything off, I must say that the reason why this is lackluster is what Sela does at the end. WHAT!!! The cliffhanger is a doozy. The characters are so crazy but this tops the cake. I’m not sure what the author’s intention is but the characters doing something like this is beyond over the top.

Now I must finish this story if not for my own sanity. Good or bad, I’m in it. I need for Sela and Beck to get their revenge and HEA wrapped in one.
