Publisher: Dell
Release date: March 24, 2009
ISBN-13: 978-0440244233
400 pagesJasper Finley, Baron Montford, had never lost a wager until he met Katherine Huxtable. But when he bets his friends that he can successfully seduce Katherine, after their first meeting, he not only admits defeat but also patiently listens to Katherine as she verbally decimates his character, then sends him on his way. When the two meet again three years later in London, Jasper finds he is still intrigued with the beguiling Katherine, so he proposes another wager: he will make her fall in love with him. Katherine knows the smart thing to do is to send Jasper away once again, but somehow she finds the idea of romance with a dangerous rake irresistible.

For the May Top Pick, readers chose Elizabeth Hoyt’s To Beguile a Beast. Congrats, ladies!
Elizabeth Hoyt is a New York Times bestselling author of historical romance. She also writes deliciously fun contemporary romance under the name Julia Harper. Elizabeth lives in central Illinois with three untrained dogs, two angelic but bickering children, and one long-suffering husband. A fun fact about Elizabeth? At sixteen Elizabeth was once accidentally locked in the Ashmolean Museum—the oldest museum in Britain—in Oxford England. Apparently, she didn’t hear the bell that warns that the museum is about to close. She denies categorically that the reason she didn’t hear the bell was because at the time she was looking at risqué Greek pottery.

TRUST A BEAUTY WITH A PAST . . .
Running from past mistakes has taken legendary beauty Helen Fitzwilliam from the luxury of the ton to a crumbling Scottish castle . . . and a job as a housekeeper. Yet Helen is determined to start a new life and she won’t let dust-or a beast of a man-scare her away.
TO TAME HIS MOST SECRET DESIRES?
Beneath Helen’s beautiful façade, Alistair finds a courageous and sensual woman. A woman who doesn’t back away from his surliness-or his scars. But just as he begins to believe in true love, Helen’s secret past threatens to tear them apart. Now both Beast and Beauty must fight for the one thing neither believed they could ever find–a happy ever after.

I read To Beguile a Beast back in may and it was indeed a winner. I haven’t read Then Comes Seduction though… maybe soon 😉
I’m the opposite of Emmanuelle: I’ve read Then Comes Seduction, but I haven’t read To Beguile a Beast. It sounds wonderful, though. I’d love to read it!
I have read “To Beguile a Beast”, and I really enjoyed the “wounded hero”, Alistair Munroe. I have now collected the other three books in “The Legend of the Four Soldiers” series, and I will read them all (including “Beast” again) in sequential order. I love “Beauty and the Beast” and stories with “wounded and scarred heroes”.
I have not read “Then Comes Seduction”, but Mary Balogh is an excellent Historical Romance writer. Her book covers are also usually very pretty!
I have read To Beguile a Beast. I really enjoy it and plan to read To Desire a Devil soon. I would love to win a copy of Then Comes Seduction.
I really enjoyed reading To Beguile A Beast. I have not read Then Comes Seduction yet but I will. Thanks for letting us know about all these good books to read!
Sorry about the typo in the previous comment. It’s pretty bad when you misspell your own name. My excuse is a migraine “behind one eye”. Time for aspirin, strong hot coffee, dark chocolate and hands off the keyboard : )
Oh, both books sound very interesting, but I LOVE beast books!! Love the wounded hero. Or should I say “tortured” hero? heehee

I have read “To Beguile a Beast”, and I really enjoyed the scarred and maimed (but still awesome) hero, Alistair Munroe. I now have all four of the books in “The Legend of the Four Soldiers” series. I love “Beauty and the Beast” and stories with wounded or scarred heroes.
I have not read “Then Comes Seduction”, but Mary Balogh is an excellent Historical Romance writer. Her book covers are usually very pretty.

I’ve read the other books in Mary Balough’s series but I was told by my family to stop buying books so that I would have something on my Christmas Wish list. It has been torture not buying my favorite author’s newest releases! And who knows if I will even get the titles I really wanted. To Beguile the Beast is yet another on my list! I will need MANY gift cars to catch up on my books!
WOW – I’m totally excited for Then Comes Seduction – I’m such a huge Mary Balogh fan.
And what can I say? I like Beauty and the Beast stories too! Elizabeth Hoyt’s a great writer.
I have read neither, but would like to.

I love reading your posts and learning about books
I’ve read To Beguile A Beast, and it is an amazing love story. Elizabeth Hoyt is such a great storyteller in general, but I think this is my favorite of this series.
I have not read Then Comes Seduction, but it sounds like a great book. 🙂
Both authors are sure fire winners with anything they write. The Beauty and The Beast plot line is my favorite. Have heard many great things about TO BEGUILE A BEAST and would love to read it. It is on my To Buy list, but my DH says I have to read a few from my TBR pile before I can buy more for it. Of course winning one doesn’t count;o) My rule.
Mary is a popular author at our library and I put her books on the shelf whenever I can.
The best part of working at the library is I can snag a book and read it before putting it out. Unfortunately, I can’t read fast enough to keep up with all the great authors and their new books. Will be looking for both these books to put on the shelf.
i haven’t read any of these books 🙂 To Beguile A Beast sounds Amazing ! looking forward to read it.
I haven’t read either one, but they both sound great. I would love to win either one.
Thanks for the chance to win! 😀
I haven’t read either of these books either and would love to enter to win either one of them. They are both by great authors. Thanks for the opportunity to win.
Both authors are autobuys for me! A win would let me give my daughter her own copies! Thanks for the great contests.
The Beauty and the Beast storyline has always been a favorite of mine. Would love to read either of these books 🙂
