Today, I’d like to take a moment to talk about something I just discovered. Yesterday,  Jennifer Haymore, who also writes as Dawn Halliday, announced that she was diagnosed with breast cancer last month. Jennifer spoke about it on her blog. You can read it here.

Just the word cancer instills a certain fear in most of us. I know it does me. But I do know that so many people have lived through it and survived it. I know that Jennifer will be one of those people. My prayers go out to Jennifer and her family and friends. I wish her the quickest recovery and I look forward to having her books coming out well into my dotage. I know that we all want Jennifer’s swift and safe recovery.

As Jennifer stated in her post, she will continue to write and we here at The Season look forward to covering  Jennifer Haymore and Dawn Halliday books. Actually, Jennifer has a book out this month titled A TOUCH OF SCANDAL (It’s the follow-up to her largely popular debut last year, A HINT OF WICKED) and I’m giving away a copy of A TOUCH OF SCANDAL to one lucky commenter.

The last thing Garrett, Duke of Calton, expects to find while tracking his sworn enemy is the delectable, mysterious Kate. This beautiful servant girl rouses a longing the battle-scarred ex-soldier had never hoped to feel again. But when she turns out to be the sister of the man he seeks, he’s convinced he’s been betrayed.

Kate knows her duty to her family, yet how can she ignore Garrett’s powerful pull on her heart? Or the heady temptation of his stolen-and sizzling-kisses? Scandal has followed the duke since the war. Now the greatest shock of all is on its way-the one that can separate Garrett and Kate forever.

  1. All our prayers are with Jennifer and her family. I’m going to positively think about all her future books and how much I’ll enjoy them. Cancer itself is one of the scariest words I have ever heard. At 7 and a half my young daughter was diagnosed with bone cancer of the shoulder. We spent eleven and a half months with her as an in patient getting 5 chemos a day, 5 days a week. She had to have a titanium implant for her shoulder and the wing but after 13 years my baby is as healthy as she could possibly be. I’d say “stay strong and focus on your writing and try to be as positive as possible and know we are all praying”

  2. I will keep Jennifer in my prayers. Prayers and faith and a positive outlook will help comfort her, I hope.

  3. I can’t even begin to imagine what Jennifer is going through, but I hope that she knows we’re all cheering and praying as hard as we can for her.

  4. I’m dealing with a parent who is dying from cancer right now so my thoughts and well wishes go out to Jennifer.

  5. May Jennifer be surrounded by loved ones who help keep her laughing and positive thoughts flowing around her and able to reminder life is to be lived even when feeling horrible.

  6. My friend’s mother was diagnosed with an invasive breast cancer when she was in her 50s. She’s in her late 60s and going strong. My prayers are with you Jennifer.

    God Bless

  7. Oh wow. I absolutely loved A Hint of Wicked and I just bought A Touch of Scandal today (so don’t enter me in the drawing). My prayers are with Jennifer and her family. I’m sure you’re getting the best treatment and with the love of your family, you’ll come through this with flying colors.

  9. Although I had kidney cancer and not breast cancer, I can stand with those who are proud to be survivors. Twenty-two years and counting.

Jennifer has my prayers, as does her family. And I pray for that cure that wipes any form of this disease off the face of the Earth.

  10. Brynna, I had no idea!!!! Bless you. And I’ll join in to reiterate that I, like everyone else wants a cure that will wipe this disease of the face of the Earth.

  11. My thoughts will be with her. We have known many (too many) who have had breast cancer and survived. My mother-in-law was diagnosed in 1967 and lived until about 1998 with no further problems. With the treatments available today, she should do well.

  12. My thoughts and prayers are with Jennifer and her family at this frightening time. I also with her all of the courage I have read of here. Thank you to all of those cancer survivors who posted to let Jennifer know she is not alone and that cancer is definitely beatable! I will have her name added to my Mom’s church prayer list. Never underestimate the power of a bunch of Southern little old ladies when they speak with God.

When sailing through life, never tell your boat how large the ocean may be. Tell the ocean how large your God is.

  13. I’ll certainly be praying for Miss Jennifer.

My beloved Aunt Joyce fought breast cancer three times over the past fifteen years or so. She recovered from each instance. Unfortunately, she was diagnosed with cervical cancer about 4 years ago. She passed on in September 2008.

She was a second mother to me, taking me in after my own parents passed on while I was still in high school.

I lost my own father – Daddy – to liver cancer when I was 18. He passed on only two days after having been diagnosed. Not only was the cancer rather advanced, he’d lost his wife – Mama – just the year before to massive heart failure.

  14. Jennifer and her family have my prayers. Selling a house, buying a house that turned out to be in a floodplain, getting her writing space just right, and having a new book out – so much is happenning in her life lately. She is spunky and will beat this cancer. I hope she caught it early.

  15. My prayers go out to Jennifer and her family. Keep your faith, I know many people who managed to get through all the procedures, and now have a happy and healthy life.

  16. I’m so sorry to hear about Jennifer’s illness & want to take the opportunity to wish her and the people close to her nothing but the best!!! *Sending loads of good vibes her way*

  17. I actully follow her blog so when I heard that news it really made feel bad for her. I just really hope everything works out fr her:(

  18. I read about this on her blog and its so sad! My prayers are with her and hope she has a speedy recovery!

  19. I know what she’s going through and my prayers are with her! I had stage 1 non invasive breast cancer 16 years ago and I’ve been healthy ever since! Modern medicine is really wonderful. Good luck Jennifer!
