Last year, I held a Pitch Contest on the Blog so I decided this year I’d host a different kind ofย  contest. This year I will hold a ‘Tis The Season Writing Contest in the same vein of Avon Fanlit (for those who remember the 2006 Writing contest hosted by Avon and Fanlit).

Here are the details:

1. The grand prize is a 25 page critique from an editor or agent and a $100 Visa Gift Card. The second and third prize winners will receive a 25 page from an agent or editor and some wonderful books.
2. Guidelines for entries will be posted on The Season website on October 17th.
3. Accepting entries from October 22-29th.
4. Voting from November 1-12th.
5.ย  Finalists announced November 14th.
6.ย  Final voting from November 15-19th.
7. Winners announced November 22nd.

The editors and agent donating the 25 page critiques are Grace Bradley, editor at Ellora’s Cave, Kevan Lyon, agent with Marsal Lyon Literary Agency, and Leis Pederson, editor at Berkley, a division of Penguin Group.

Entries will be from 1200 – 1600 words. They will also be holiday themed and will follow the guidelines set forth by the editor and agent (check website on October 17th for instructions). Genres included are historical, contemporary, paranormal and romantic suspense. The heat level can be anything from Inspy (Inspirational) to Erotic.

Entries MUST be received by October 29th by 11:59 PM EST. This contest is open to unpublished authors ONLY.

Direct any questions to me, Beverley, at contact at theseasonforromance dot com or comment below.

**Unpublished meaning you are not able to qualify for PAN status under RWA terms.

Speaking of contests, two more of my reviewers have entries in NEW VOICES Mills and Boon Contest. Karyn Gerrard’s entry is HIS WICKED CELTIC KISS and Rebecca Stewart’s RUNNING FROM THE DUKE. Any participation would be much appreciated. ๐Ÿ˜€

  1. Bev, this is fabulous! I put up a notice about on Romance Australia and mentioned it on Facebook. I hope you get a gazillion entries! I think you’re wonderful, the way you support your other writers!!!!!

  2. Ooh, I do love a short story contest! I won’t ask the bazillion questions running through my mind =)

Thanks for another exciting opportunity, Bev!!

  3. @Bronwyn

It’s 1600 words, which can be one scene or perhaps two. But the guideline for that scene(s) will be set forth by the editor and agent.

  4. I’m going to put a Christmas Cd on and hope for inspiration. Love the cats, by the way. One of my favorite quotes is, “Dogs think they are human, cats think they are gods.”
