First, I want to apologize. I meant to post a reminder about the October Book Club Discussion of Ashley March’s SEDUCING THE DUCHESS yesterday.  Since I did not, I’m going to be moving the discussion to Monday, November 9th. So if you haven’t had a chance to buy, read or finish the book, you still have time. 😀 Remember those who send in their comments by 12:00 pm November 8th will be entered into a separate more lucrative prize of 2 books of your choice. If you choose to comment on the post the day of the discussion you will be entered to win one book of your choice.

Now because we won’t be discussing SEDUCING THE DUCHESS just yet, I’d like to look ahead into 2011. Can I say there are many exciting things going on in 2011, the most exciting of which to me is the release of my second book, A TASTE OF DESIRE. As an author, sometimes you can’t see beyond that date because getting ready to launch a new book is all consuming. But I do force myself to focus on other things–yeah like my daily life.

But as I was getting stuff together for the January issue, I realized how many other January releases I’m pretty excited about and many I think you will be pretty excited to read. So today is a pure pimpage day for my fellow authors who also have books coming out to start 2011 with…yep, romance. 🙂

I’m going to start the list off with a wonderfully, fabulous debut author by the name of Vicky Dreiling. When I read the blurb for HOW TO MARRY A DUKE I knew this was going to be a must read for me. It’s so my kind of book. A love story fraught with angst and emotion.

Tristan, the Duke of Shelbourne is a man with a mission: find a wife he can tolerate as long as they both shall live. Love is not necessary–nor desired. But how to choose among a dizzying array of wealthy-yet-witless candidates? Hire London’s infamously prim and proper matchmaker. Then pretend she’s not the most captivating woman he’s ever met…

Helping a devilish Duke create a contest to pick his perfect mate is the kind of challenge Tessa Mansfield relishes. Her methods may be scandalous, but she’s determined to find the notorious bachelor more than a wife–she’ll bring him true love. Yet when Tessa watches the women vie for the Duke’s affections, she longs to win his heart herself. And after a stolen kiss confirms Tristan’s desire, Tessa knows she has broken a matchmaker’s number one rule: never fall in love with the groom.

My friend, Maggie Robinson’s MARRIAGE BY MIDNIGHT is another book you’ll want to pick up next year (well technically December 28th). MARRIAGE BY MIDNIGHT is the second book in Maggie’s Courtesan Court Trilogy and it’s fabulous. I read it eons ago and believe me it’s a keeper. Talk about your emotional angst, tension and heat! It has it all.

Next we have the lovely Delilah Marvelle, who published her first two books with Kensington and has since moved to Harlequin. Delilah is going to have back-to-back releases beginning in January and ending in March. Her first in the three book series is PRELUDE TO A SCANDAL. Seriously, who doesn’t love a juicy scandal? I’m definitely looking forward to reading this one.

Marriage is NOT the end of desire.

THE BATTLE BETWEEN LADY AND RAKE IS ABOUT TO BEGIN…

Lady Justine is willing to trade her good name, her reputation and her place in London’s gossip-hungry ton, to secure her father’s release from prison. But when the notorious Duke of Bradford counters her offer with a proposal of marriage, the stakes grow higher still. For while the smoldering lord is famous for his conquests, the man is oblivious to both her devotion and her charms. And Justine is soon afraid she has wagered all for naught…

A red little book by an unknown author.
Three unlikely couples…and scandal galore.
Look for the rest of the scandal series!

ARE YOU READY TO BE SCANDALIZED?

Did anyone else notice that Laura Lee Guhrke didn’t have a 2010 release. I did. I did speak to her about it in Orlando and I was more than gratified to hear that all my impatient waiting would not be in vain. Laura will more than pacify her fans with two–yes you heard me correctly–two back-to-back releases. Her January release, WEDDING OF THE SEASON, is the first book in her Abandoned at the Altar series. Again, need I tell you this is so my kind of book. Make sure you add this one to your To-Buy list as I’m sure it will be a keeper.

Wedding of the Season

Abandoned at the altar…

Lady Beatrix Danbury has always known she would marry William Mallory. She’d loved him forever, and she’d never doubted he loved her, too. But when she made him choose between their life together and his lifelong dream, Will chose the latter, and left two weeks before their wedding.

Return of the duke…

Will has no illusions that Beatrix will welcome him back with open arms, but six years has not diminished his love or his desire for her. The only problem is that she’s about to marry someone else. Someone safe and predictable… the complete opposite of Will. But can he stop the wedding of the season and win Beatrix back, or is it just too late?

Last but certainly not least, is a powerhouse of a book. Yep, when you can get three topnotch writers in a single anthology you’re allowed to use the term powerhouse–actually, you’re encouraged to use it. THE LADY MOST LIKELY (to hit the NYT Bestsellers list) is the combined effort of Julia Quinn, Eloisa James and Connie Brockway. I’m pretty sure I don’t need to even tell you it’s coming out because I’m sure most of you already know, but for the few who don’t here it is. 😀

The Lady Most Likely
Authors: Julia Quinn, Eloisa James, Connie Brockway
Publisher: HarperCollins / Avon
Pub. Date: December 28, 2010
ISBN-13: 978-0061247828
Retail: $7.99

Hugh Dunne, the Earl of Briarly, needs a wife, so his sister hands him a list of delectable damsels and promises to invite them— and a few other gentlemen—to her country house for what is sure to be the event of the season.

Hugh will have time to woo whichever lady he most desires . . . Unless someone else snatches her first.

The invitation list includes:

* The horse-mad but irresistibly handsome Earl of Briarly
* The always outspoken Miss Katherine Peyton
* The dashing war hero Captain Neill Oakes
* The impossibly beautiful (and painfully shy) Miss Gwendolyn Passmore
* The terribly eligible new Earl of Charters
* The widowed Lady Georgina Sorrell (who has no plans to marry, ever)

And your hostess, Lady Carolyn Finchley, an irrepressible matchmaker who plans to find the lady most likely . . . to capture her brother’s untamed heart.

#3 is another of my favorite author – Maggie Robinson and Mistress By Mistake! Anyone who is already a favorite of Maggie should be sure to pre-order and if in doubt – check her out and read an excerpt – it sounds like a next to be missed read!

  15. I am salivating in anticipation of Maggie Robinson’s book and also for The Powerhouse. And maybe doing a little jumpy, twitchy-type dance. I’m quite impatient. 😀

  16. There are so many selections I am anticipating to be released in 2011, mostly continuation of a series (so far about 75 books). And now once again with your fab suggestions there are 3 more authors added to my growing list. I love your recommendations Bev, I have yet to be disappointed : )

Sarah MacLean’s Ten Ways was a wonderful read, it was one of my favorite reads so far this year. I can’t wait for Lorraine Heath’s continuation Pleasure’s of a Notorous Gentleman in her new series London’s Greaterst Lovers series, Passions of a Wicked Earl was a very interesting start.

I better get to work on the tbr pile to make room 😉

  25. I would read a grocery list if Julia Quinn wrote it so her new book with Eloisa James and Connie Brockway (to know them is to love them) is on my wishlist already! I am also waiting looking forward to Ms. Gurhke’s newest, having enjoyed hers in the past. The other writers are not as well known to me so I am interested in looking for their books soon as well. I always enjoy your website and blog. Keep up the good work!

  26. I will continue to “feed my addiction” by eagerly anticipating and probably buying all of the books you mentioned and more! 🙂

Lots of laugh out loud lines and scenes, loveable characters, and great writing. I understand there are two more in the works and we will get to see more of these characters. I can’t wait!
