My name is Aria Winston. I’ve fought desperately to escape the seedy underbelly of Las Vegas. Now I’m on my own, in control of my own life and my own destiny . . . just the way I like it. Until Sebastian Caine changes everything.
Working as a cocktail waitress at one of Vegas’s hottest five-star casinos means putting up with a ton of bad behavior from the big spenders. But it pays the bills—and that’s all that matters to Aria, who needs every last dollar to escape from her father’s destructive grasp and the brutal man he expects her to marry. But when she lashes out against a billionaire who won’t take no for an answer, she nearly loses everything—until Sebastian steps in. The owner’s son and handpicked successor, Sebastian is dark, sexy, and kinder than any rich man should be. And when he apologizes and offers to keep her job safe, Aria can’t help the way her body reacts to his. Suddenly her job, and the security it brings her, isn’t the only thing Aria wants.
Other 4 (four) parts in the Play Me serial:
This review is for the entire serial.
Aria Winston is a cocktail waitress at the famous Atlantis casino in Las Vegas. She has fought to keep control in her life but her world spirals out of it when her job is in jeopardy after a confrontation with one of their high roller customers. She doesn’t expect her new boss, Sebastian Caine to side with her.
Men like Sebastian always get what they want and right now Sebastian wants Aria. She demands respect and has an air of sophistication about her. He senses her need for control and he is about to show her that he can give her what she needs but her guards are up. How can he break through her barriers?
Aria is drawn to Sebastian despite his domineering and controlling personality. The two of them give in to their desire and their sex scenes are explosive. Of course, I’ve read tons of BDSM books so I would label this as BDSM-lite despite Sebastian’s attempt to play pseudo-Christian Grey.
In the fourth part, Sebastian’s past comes full force when he is confronted by an unexpected visitor from his past. The readers see that he is a good guy that has fought for control like Aria despite his father’s reign over his life. Aria’s story comes to light in the last installment and boy are these two fully connected in ways that they didn’t even imagine. They are both running from the past and I hope they are able to face it together now that the secrets are revealed.
I tend to stay away from serials like the plague. The idea of getting snippets off the story seems a little wrong to me. I prefer to get full length books where the author lays out the details and builds on the stories. While each part is short, the story unfolds nicely and I’m happy to have read all five installments back to back.
I’m slightly disappointed that at the end of the fifth part, the author mentions that Aria and Sebastian will make cameo appearances in Ethan Frost and Chloe’s upcoming book. It doesn’t surprise me since Ethan pops up in Play Me and asks Sebastian for help. I feel as though Sebastian and Aria’s story abruptly ends and they need their own final full length book to tie up loose ends and resolve some of their issues.
Fans of the Ethan Frost books by Ms. Wolff should love this serial. I look forward to going back and reading the books.
