The conclusion of the savage, sensual Surrender trilogy in which betrayal, pain, and vengeance threaten to destroy a passion between two damaged souls…
Evelyn “Scout” Keats thought she finally found her long-sought happiness in billionaire Lucian Patras. But even though Lucian has always treated her like a queen, she has discovered she is nothing more than a pawn in his own secret game.
Worse, her long-time friend and supposed shining knight, Parker Hughes has also used her for his own interests by playing a part in Lucian’s game. Everyone’s honor is suspect, and no one can be trusted. It is Scout’s worst nightmare come to life.
As she struggles to comprehend the cost of a broken heart and the value of love, she must choose, once and for all, how much her pride can endure—and how much she is willing to risk to be truly happy.
Other books in the Surrender trilogy:
After the betrayal that rocked her world, Evelyn ‘Scout’ Keats is trying to put back the pieces of her life. She just lost her best friend and the man she loved but she is determined to stand on her own two feet. She got a plan but she needs a boost to get her going so she goes to the one man who could help her.
Lucian Patras is willing to do whatever to get Evelyn back in his life. When she strolls in his office and asks for help, he jumps at the chance but she is not trying to accept him back in her life. She wants her independence and she is not willing to compromise. Lucian is a man that is use to getting what he wants and he plans to wear Evelyn down.
I became excited to know how Lucian and Evelyn’s story concluded after reading book two. The strong Scout is back. She is back living on the streets and using her wits to survive. She dodges Lucian as much as possible but the man just won’t go away. Slowly they work their way back to each other but Scout is still determine to make sure Lucian knows she will be submissive to him in the bedroom but not in any other aspect of her life. She has to life her live on her own terms.
There is a threat from people in Lucian life and the paparazzi are stalking them. Lucian sort of brushes this aside which is puzzling from a guy who wants to control everything. Then there is the threat of Parker which puzzled me. I don’t want to give things away but at one point the ending seemed very anticlimactic. The antagonists are weak and add no excitement to the story except to make a bit of drama. Nothing is really done to address what they did and I felt slighted.
I love Scout. She might not have much but she is sweet and caring. She is strong and capable of handling herself in any situation. I’m pleased that when she and Lucian became an item again she stayed strong, pushing him back when he became forceful. I was worried she would become meek and timid.
I am glad that Lucian grovels and swallows his pride allowing Scout to find out what she wants to become on her own. He is still the same dominant man from the previous books but his heart is softer.
I’m happy that Scout and Lucian received their much deserved HEA. Cinderella really does get the prince in this one!
