From USA Today Bestselling Author Beverly Jenkins comes a new novel in a mesmerizing series set in the Old West, where an arranged marriage becomes a grand passion . . .
What kind of mail-order bride greets her intended with a bullet instead of a kiss? One like Regan Carmichael—an independent spirit equally at home in denims and dresses. Shooting Dr. Colton Lee in the shoulder is an honest error, but soon Regan wonders if her entire plan to marry a man she’s never met is a mistake. Colton, who buried his heart along with his first wife, insists he only wants someone to care for his daughter. Yet Regan is drawn to the unmistakable desire in his gaze.
Regan’s far from the docile bride Colton was expecting. Still, few women would brave the wilds of Wyoming Territory for an uncertain future with a widower and his child. The thought of having a bold, forthright woman like Regan in his life—and in his arms—begins to inspire a new dream. And despite his family’s disapproval and an unseen enemy, he’ll risk all to make this match a real union of body and soul.

I haven’t read a mail-order-bride themed book in a long time. I am always curious how that would really work out. It is such a gamble. I looked forward to reading the final installment of the Old West trilogy.
Regan is all the feisty and cool heroine that I had been hoping she would grow up to be. She is smart and independent. She is still soft and kind. Aunt Edy sure did raise her right.
Colton is dealing with the death of his wife and trying to raise his six year old daughter, Ana. He is very old fashion in his beliefs. He wants a wife that can raise Ana in that fashion. Regan and Ana build a relationship which I adored because Ana suffered for too long. Regan allows her to be a sweet and happy child which is what she deserved.
I loved the sexy scenes with Colton and Regan. He tried so hard to remain stuffy and proper but she brought the scandalous nature right out of him. So much that they were having sexy times everywhere. I had to laugh thinking back on the last book when her sister was shocked that their Aunt had already told Regan how to handle herself in the bedroom. Well, Regan sure did know how to have fun.
This is almost perfect but my problem with the story is that once the action and excitement picked up, the author failed to show readers what was going on. There is a kidnapping, shooting, and all kind of mayhem. The readers are told what happened after it all happened. It wrapped up all the drama and the story. I felt disappointment.
As always, Ms. Jenkins has a knack for storytelling. Her ability to weave in factual historical events or characters into her fiction without disrupting the story is remarkable. I am always intrigued and sometimes try to research some of the events or people myself.
I know this is the end of the trilogy but I was kind of hoping that we get Spring Lee a story. Maybe even Ed. They definitely have a story to tell.

This sounds like a good read, though I’ll miss having the action be as up front and center as the romance.
I enjoy mail order bride stories. I always wonder what drove these women to travel to an unknown future. There were many reasons and many different outcomes. I look forward to finding out what Regan’s is.
Sounds like another wonderful read by Beverley Jenkins .
