This isn’t a love story.
It’s a story about obsession.
After experiencing a terrible loss, New York City psychiatrist Meredith McCall feels painfully adrift. When she crosses paths with a man with whom she has a tragic connection, she follows him, sparking an unhealthy obsession with Gabriel Wright. How is he doing so well while her life is in shambles?
But when Gabriel walks into her office as a patient, seemingly unaware of who she is, she knows it crosses all ethical and moral bounds to treat him. Yet, Meredith can’t bring herself to turn him away and becomes further entangled. With her life and career continuing to unravel, it appears that things could not get any worse…until they do.

She knows she needs to send him somewhere else but is so caught up in putting the pieces together that she crosses the ethical client/personal lines.
I’m not a stranger to this author at all, but this is a new genre for me when it comes to her. I didn’t know how I would feel about this. What would happen? However, this book took me down a rabbit hole and I didn’t want to stop reading it because it was so dark and scary at times. This makes it so hard for me to review. Readers have to go in blindly. The little twists and shockers shouldn’t be spoiled or revealed.
Meredith’s mental health was always at the forefront of my mind in this thriller. I couldn’t understand why she didn’t seek any help. I didn’t understand a lot of what was going on. I kept asking myself, “What am I reading?” but I couldn’t let up. Then BAM! The moment where you see how unhinged everyone really is revealed.
While I did enjoy all the smutty-like behavior and tension, I didn’t necessarily love it. I felt something for Meredith initially, but she did a few idiotic things. I like the chemistry and watching the story unravel, but it could have been tighter, so it’s not full-on five stars, but very close.
This is such a delicious, well-written, dark thriller that fans of this author will enjoy. Fans of dark, sensual thrillers will enjoy this as well.
