By-the-book secret agent Lucas Bendtsen will do anything to keep his country safe—even if that means blackmailing the stepdaughter of a notorious mobster who is about to sell guns to a group of terrorists. The plan? He’ll pose as her fiancé in order to access her stepfather’s guarded compound and find out the location of the arms deal. The problem? Despite her reputation as a heartless femme fatale, Ruby Macintosh is not at all what she seems.
Only a fool would double-cross the Organization, but Ruby doesn’t have any choice—not if she’s going to save her brother and mother from her stepfather. So she places her life in the hands of a man who turns her on as much as he ticks her off…
The fake engagement may be the beginning of a high-stakes game of subterfuge, but when their hearts get involved, Lucas has to decide whether to break the rules or break Ruby’s heart.

Lucas is trying to gain access to crime boss and his only way to get to him is through his stepdaughter. He blackmails Ruby into pretending that he is her fiancé. As the two spend more time together, Lucas realizes that Ruby is not as bad as her record appears.
Ruby is a jewelry designer and when Lucas forces her to get at her family, she finds out she is stuck. With no other option but to work with Lucas, she must find a way to still remain loyal to her family. I like Ruby a lot. She cares about her brother and wants to distance herself away from the crime. She is badass and knows how to handle herself in sticky situations.
There are other secret agents running around. Gun toting mobsters and everyone is stuck on some random unknown islands. Makes for an interesting read? While this is an enjoyable book there is nothing memorable or spectacular.
The love scenes are hawt! Ruby and Lucas click almost instantly but given that they spend so much time together after their initial meeting, it is not surprising that they fall in love. The ending is sweet and I’m glad that Ruby and Lucas got their HEA.
I would recommend this for people who want a quick, fun and adventurous read.
