I had a wonderful Christmas. My son got almost everything he wanted and I was home from work for 8 blessed days. Seriously, who can top that? I did take some time to read and discovered a new author who writes Harlequin Presents Extra by the name of Mira Lyn Kelly. I’ll be blogging about her later this week, in the meanwhile you can check out The Season’s Top Pick review of her January release, FRONT PAGE AFFAIR.

So tell me, how was your Christmas. Did you get anything good? Did anyone get an eReader or maybe an iPad? Did anyone read any good books lately or, like me, discover any new authors? Any books you’re looking forward to reading in the coming months?

  1. I have had the best Christmas ever! My daughter is home from college, she sang beautifully at Christmas Eve mass, we shared a fun & happy Christmas with my wonderful family where we sang, visited & relaxed together. Bonus: I’ve been resting, reading & writing thanks to a few days off from work! I already have a Kindle & my brilliant daughter gave me an Amazon gift card to keep downloading & reading 🙂 And, no snow in sight despite super chilly weather here in Florida. Am happy, healthy & grateful – life is terrific! Happy holidays to one and all 🙂

  2. PS I’m enjoying my review readings AND discovered a fabulous, new book, ‘Winter Sea’ by Susanna Kearsley. A brilliant plot and setting based on historic events presented in a new way: ancestral memories as told through a writer!

  3. Had a pretty good Christmas. First year in about 3 I didn’t have to work on Christmas Eve or Christmas(co-workers offered). Had fun going to a couple after Christmas sales to get some deals. I am looking for to Kat Martin’s new series with the first book~Against The Wind(hope I have that right).

  4. I’ve had a great Christmas! Time off is always a gift and though I only read one book last week, I plan to make up for it during this one. 🙂 And we didn’t travel this year, a blessing in and of itself. 🙂

Counting the days till A Taste of Desire releases . . . What a great New Year’s gift that will be! 🙂

  5. My Christmas is spent with my children about a week before Christmas. They live in MI, so I travel there each year to spend a few days with them. Great fun every year.

I didn’t get an e-reader…mainly because it’s not on my wish list. But I did get plenty of Amazon Gift Cards to happily spend on more paperback books! I also received another Swarovski Crystal Miniature for my collection. Love those things. And I discovered they are also for sale on Amazon. Hmmm…maybe I’ll use some of my GC balance to buy crystal miniatures!

Happy New Year to everyone at The Season!

  6. My Christmas has gone on all month. My son came up from Florida for 10 days on December 5, so we celebrated early with his sisters and friends. We had a houseful for Christmas proper, then are having good friends come on the 30th and the girls and their families are coming back for NY’s Eve. My house has never been so clean, LOL. I got thoughtful gifts from all my kids, but the best was just their company. Enjoy the rest of the Season!

  7. I had a good Christmas. I enjoyed seeing everyone open up all of their presents and actually like them. I’m always paranoid that no one likes what I get them. I got a few book gift certificates so I’m excited about that.

  8. Some family members had to work but we had a wonderful Christmas evening! I got a new wireless keyboard and mouse (it’s different so I’m having to get use to it) and more RAM for my computer. I did find a new favorite author – Kathyrn Kennedy. I tend to read historicals the most but this is more romantic fantasy/paranormal and I’m really enjoying it. I first read The Firelord’s Lover and now am reading Beneath the Thirteen Moons.

  9. I had an early Christmas celebration with my folks and my sister and her family, then enjoyed a lovely (and very relaxing) Christmas with my DH. We saw “Black Swan” on Christmas Eve, and both loved it. Natalie Portman deserves an Oscar for her performance. I got a Kindle for Christmas, along with a gift card to Amazon. Also under the tree was a copy of “In the Dark of Dreams”, the latest Dirk & Steele novel by Marjorie M Liu, and “Bound to a Warrior” by Donna Fletcher.

  10. No ebookreader…but I will be getting one for my birthday, which is in about five weeks!! Yippee!!!

We kept Christmas on a low key, though we had a full house and lots of good food. We concentrated on good quality time with the kids and catching up on everyone’s news.

I did get some nice smelly stuff for the bath…very nice.

  11. My husband and I had a wonderful quiet Christmas where we could sit and read in front of a roaring fire and relax in the morning. The snow started after lunchtime but fortunately our 2 year old grandson also stopped by in the morning (it’s always great to have little ones around this time a year) and our other 3 grandchildren called from South Carolina.

There are times that we miss the hectic times when the house was full but are looking forward to a quiet year ahead for 2011. We have found that we really enjoy just being together and though there are times that we miss the “excitment” it also makes us enjoy are times with our sons and their families even more.

Wishing you all a peaceful and joyfull New Year.

  12. I had a splendid Christmas. I got that new laptop I’ve been dying to get (I was working with a beat up old 2005 gateway desktop that was SOO slow. This means better viewing for ebooks and increased ease for my blogging….also ease with my school work, but that SO takes a backseat to the other benefits! lol)
It was nice this year. I usaully feel like a black sheep or outcast when I visit my father’s family, but everyone was laughing and playing Wii (some dancing game for micheal jackson). Everyone liked their gifts, and I didn’t feel too akward! It was a success!!! =)

Glad you and your son had a great christmas, bev! And I hope everyone else did too!!! <3

  13. We had a good Christmas. Kids got things they wanted. I build Lego sets until I felt like my fingers here going to fall off and I got my huge Zojirushi rice cooker and an XL electric griddle. Exactly what was on my Christmas list.

We spend the morning watching the Despicable Me, Toy Story 3 and Step Up 3. The middle kid left in the afternoon for a sleepover and we snacked on good food.

  14. Glad everyone had a wonderful Christmas. Mine was alright. The books I’m most interested in reading in the coming months are some really old ones I’ve had for years. The best book I’ve read lately was ‘Passion’ by Lisa Valdez. It was good for obvious reasons, lol.

  15. I got a couple lovely items of clothing, an adorable pair of ankle boots, an electric toothbrush, 2 of my favorite movies of all time on blu-ray – Disney’s Beauty and the Beast and Inception, and lots of money! A good haul, if I say so myself. 😉 I didn’t get any actual book items, but I’m thinking about spending some of that holiday money on books. It’s just so hard to decide what to buy.

  16. I spent Christmas with our best friends and their family. It was the best Christmas I have ever had. Absolutely wonderful!

As to reading, my friend got a Kindle from her husband, so after our Christmas lunch (which didn’t finish till about 5pm) we loaded up her Kindle with new books.

I am reading the latest book by Vince Flynn called American Assassin and it’s brilliant. I’ve got a whole list of books queued to read over the next week until New Year’s. Hopefully I’ll be able to find the time to read at least another two or three books in the coming week.

    Have a Happy New Year.

  17. My son bought me a Kindle about two months ago and it was for my Christmas, and I have really enjoyed it. He is home from college right now so I am enjoying him being home.

  18. My mother in law invited us over the holidays and took on all of the real work of it. I didn’t receive a reader but did have great fun browsing books off her shelves. Re-read To Kill a Mockingbird.

  19. We had a nice Christmas, relaxed. We just had to replace our truck and get a new heat pump for the house, all in less than 2 months, so those were our Christmas presents. Both of our daughters are remodeling their houses, so it was a slim Christmas for them too. Our son’s truck broke down and his hours were cut at work.
We had a really nice day with one daughter and her family and our son. The other daughter and her husband couldn’t get here because of the weather. We will see them either this weekend or next.
Sharing our time, a good meal, and making sure the kids had enough to make them happy is what counts. We put our efforts towards the angel tree at church. I picked two boys about the same age as my grandson and had him go shopping with me to help pick out their gifts. He did it with me last year too.
We attended the children’s mass on Christmas Eve which has become a tradition. Love the children.

  20. We had a lovely Christmas too. Our son is home from college so we were all able to go to Christmas Eve candlelight service together after our daughter’s boyfriend visited us for a little while and we exchanged presents with him. Then it was on to my sister’s house on Christmas day where we were able to see my nephews, who are three and one and so adorable.

  21. Had a beautiful Christmas. Seeing the grandkids faces as they opened their presents and let out all kinds of whoops and yes’s. :)Obviously they were gifts they wanted. I got a lot of Amazon and B&N GC. Can’t wait to use them. With the blizzard we got hit with being snug at home is about all that’s doing here. Happy Near Year everyone.

  22. Christmas isn’t over yet!!!! I’m getting ready to head to WI to celebrate with my side of the family. We are leaving MI when I get out of work and hope to get to my mom’s EARLY tomorrow morning. 🙂 I’ve loaded my nook for the 10 hr drive (each way) and hope to get some reading in.

A new author I discovered this week, Taylor Keating. Her book GAME OVER is awesome…and I can’t wait for the sequal!

  23. Yay, everyone seemed to have had a great Christmas. Here’s hoping all of 2011 will be just as good. On Christmas Day we had snow in GA for the first time in 160 years so that was a really nice treat and added to the whole holiday spirit.

  24. I spent Christmas with my family. I didn’t get an ereader or an ipad. But I did get alot of fun stuff! I got a book by Susan Wiggs called HOSTAGE. It’s part of her “Chicago Fire Trilogy” and it looks really interesting and different! I also got some cd’s, dvd’s, candy, etc.
It sounds like everybody had a wonderful Christmas!!!!
I hope everyone has a Happy New Year too!!
