I have several books I’m literally champing at the bit to read. They can’t come out soon enough for me.
1. HOW THE MARQUESS WAS WON
The Scandal Sheets call him Lord Ice.
Ruthless, cold, precise, Julian Spenser, Marquess Dryden, tolerates only the finest—in clothes, in horseflesh, in mistresses. And now he’s found the perfect bride, the one whose dowry will restore his family’s shattered legacy and bring him peace at last: the exquisite heiress Lisbeth Redmond.
She’s not afraid to play with fire…
But one unforgettable encounter with Lisbeth’s paid companion, Phoebe Vale, and the Marquess is undone: this quiet girl with the wicked smile and a wit to match is the first person to see through the icy façade to the fiery man beneath. But their irresistible attraction is a torment as sweet as it is dangerous: for surrendering to their desire could mean losing everything else they ever wanted.
There’s no cover yet (darn). I have to say, as anxious as I am to read this book, I’m a bit afraid. Has this ever happened to you? I mean WHAT I DID FOR A DUKE was sooooo good (5 Star Gold), I’m afraid I’ll compare. As it stands now, I just have to think of it this way, I don’t think any other historical will surpass my love of that book. The end. Enjoy all other books for being the wonderfully written and creative books that they are. You see, Julie Anne Long has spoiled me rotten.
2. The next Rachel Gibson book. It’s going to be about Autumn’s (ANY MAN OF MINE) brother Vince, who by the way is an ex-Navy SEAL. I can find no title, release date, cover or blurb for this book but I know it’s going to be goooood. Vince was my kind of hero, dark and brooding with a mysterious past. I can’t wait to see the heroine for his book.
3. THE SINNER
IRRESISTIBLE DESIRE
Alex MacDonald is known for his skill as a warrior, his prowess with women, and his vow to never take a wife. But now his chieftain has asked him to make the ultimate sacrifice: wed Glynis MacNeil, a lass famed throughout the Highlands for her exquisite beauty-and defiant ways.
Familiar with heartbreak, Glynis refuses to fall for another handsome scoundrel. Yet when Alex’s past sins force an unlikely union, Glynis gives in to temptation and becomes his wife. Will their newfound passion be strong enough to fight the enemy that threatens their home, their clan, and their very lives?
Now I have to say, this is the only book on this small list I’ve actually read. And it lived up to my expectations. As I’ve said before, I’m not terribly keen on medievals and tend to avoid most. However, Margaret Mallory’s I devour. She has a way with them that draws me right in and keeps me riveted and completely entertained. The romance between the hero and the heroine is dominant and never gets overshadowed by the intrigue element in her novels. The tension between them is also taut and the love scenes steamy. This is a not to be missed romance.
4. The third book in Courtney Milan’s current series. Once again, I don’t have a release date, although I believe it’s before the end of this year. I don’t have the cover, I don’t know the title or the premise but the hero’s name is Smite–yes, as in you shall be smited you, you heathen. He was the dark brooding brother in UNVEILED and I was immediately taken with him. Again, I’m anxious to see the heroine who will soften this seemingly hard-edged, unforgiving man.
What about you? Are there any upcoming books you’re champing at the bit to read?
I can’t wait for Eloisa James’ The Duke is Mine, the next fairy tale story based on The Princess and the Pea. It has a fabulous cover with the heroine perched atop a stack of mattresses. And since I’m reading Julia Quinn’s Just Like Heaven now, I can’t wait for the next book in the Smith-Smythe Quartet series, though I don’t know the title yet.
These are good ones to list! I’ll admit as well that Julie Anne Long’s next has me fearful because I loved What I Did For a Duke sooo much!
My anxiously anticipating includes:
1. An Heir of Deception
Bev’s latest, after that 3 chapter snippet in the end of All’s Fair in Love & Seduction has me on pins and needles. The word ‘Fall’ is soooo vague and I’m afraid I’ll suffer an apoplexy from waiting and pondering on what will happen in the next book of the Elusive Lords series. I’ve been waiting for Alex’s story for sooo long and re-reading the exerpt over and over isn’t help abate my curiousity.
2. Heart of Steel
Tons, including myself, were captivated by The Iron Duke. I will admit this book was my first foray into steampunk and I fell in love. The next book involve the infamous Archimedes Fox and Lady Corsair. Anyone who read the book remembers the ill-fated encounter that personally left my jaw hanging. I absolutely cannot wait to get my hands on this one and will not doubt finish it within a day.
3. Mad About the Earl
I inhaled Christina Brooke’s first book in the Ministry of Marriage Series, Heiress in Love. The second book doesn’t come out until Jan. 2012. A long time to wait, and there is already an excerpt available on her website. I am so eager for this story because the excerpt just grabbed me. Hook. Line. Sinker. This is the second book in a series of 6, and based on what little I’ve already read things are going to be delicious.
In the long run I can’t stand waiting, waiting is agony and torture in fine form. The good news is that there are plenty books for me to inhale between now and then. So, I’ll just sit back and bide my time. I may even find something else to anxiously await.
It doesn’t matter what book comes out, if I can get my hands on it, I will read it.
Like you, I’m waiting for How the Marquess Was Won and Rachel Gibson’s next book. In fact, Rachel just posted on Facebook that she handed in Vince’s manuscript yesterday.
I’m also waiting for Sherry Thomas’ new trilogy that comes out next year. Book 1 is Beguiling the Beauty in May 2012. I’m also waiting for Kyle’s story in About That Night by Julie James.
Lol…I’m really bad about wanting things in advance…I’ll admit I’m waiting for Lisa Kleypas next novel in her “Friday Harbor” series – there’s no cover for it but it will come out some time in 2012. I’m also waiting for Margaret Mallory’s book (which you read) The Sinner….a bunch more too but I’m too lazy to open my spreadsheet…lol
I am looking forward to Jo Goodman’s new book — in September, I believe? And she has another coming out just a few months later!
Right now, I’m waiting for Romancing the Countess by Ashley March. Loved her first book so I have high hopes for this one.
The two you listed sound very good to me. I have to say I love to go and be surprised when I go to the bookstore.
Like you I can’t wait to read Rachel Gibson’s next book and Julie Anne Long’s next new one HOW THE MARQUESS WAS WON really sounds good. I am definitely going to have to read Julie Anne Long’s book WHAT I DID FOR A DUKE after reading what you said about it being so good.
I also can’t wait for the release of Lisa Kleypas’s next book to the Friday Harbor series, Laura Moore’s TROUBLE ME, and of course Beverley Kendall’s book AN HEIR OF DECEPTION!
THE SINNER and HOW THE MARQUESS WAS WON are on my list. ROMANCING THE COUNTESS by Ashley March looks good. The Maya Banks HIGHLANDER Trilogy that will be coming out sounds good. The video Tessa Dare did for it is fun. A NIGHT TO SURRENDER by Tessa Dare looks good. It is time to read another Christina Dodd book. SECRETS OF BELLA TERRA sounds like another good start to a trilogy. There is the IMPROPER GENTLEMEN anthology to get and I have a copy of Lila DePasqua’s A MIDNIGHT DANCE on the way I am looking forward to. Can’t wait to get my hands on THE IDEAL MAN by Julie Garwood. CONFESSIONS OF AN IMPROPER BRIDE by Jennifer Haymore Is another one I will be getting. Lovely cover and interesting plot line.
I have an excel file with all the titles I’m eagerly waiting for:
1. Elizabeth Hoyt’s Scandalous Desires
2. Jenny Brown’s Star-Crossed Seduction — enjoyed her debut novel
3. Leigh Michael’s The Wedding Affair
4. Ashley March’s Romancing the Countess
5. The final few books of Sabrina Jeffries’ latest series
6. Sherry Thomas’s new trilogy next year — too bad she doesn’t have any books published for the later part of 2011 =(
Bev, I read What I Did for a Duke because you’ve been going on and on about how much you love it. I read it one sitting. My husband had to cook dinner that day because I wouldn’t move from my seat. I loved it. I can’t wait for How the Marquess was Won.
I think I’ll also try Margaret Mallory. I don’t read stories set in that time period usually but you’re giving such high recommendations, it must be worth a try.
I read your novella All’s Fair in Love and Seduction on my computer and I loved it. I really loved how much you managed to pack in a shorter book. But I really didn’t like what you did with the excerpt for An Heir of Deception. That was just cruel. If you’re going to put out an excerpt like that, I want the book in my hands immediately. I don’t like having to wait and the way you ended that excerpt was just cruel to us readers. Can you please please give me a date of the release. On my website it says November but I want the drop dead date! I’ve read both of your other books and while I loved them, from your excerpt of An Heir of Deception I can tell this is going to be your best book yet. I cannot WAIT!
I also can’t wait for Lisa Kleypas’s next historical. I don’t know when that will be but I’m waiting anxiously.
I feel exactly the same about How the Marquess Was Won. Since I loved What I Did for a Duke so much, I’m a bit fearful. So many other good ones have been mentioned here. Gotta go read now!
I am looking forward to reading Defiant by Pamela Clare. It’ll be a while though as she is still working on it.
