This is not a standalone. Please read the first book in the series. This story starts at a crucial point in the first book. To the get full understanding of the characters, I believe it is best to read the first book.<\/p>

Christian and Bella\u2019s story didn\u2019t pack the same punch as The Hookup. The writing has the same easy flow but the two main characters just didn\u2019t seem to wow me. It could be that I came into this with my own prejudices against them. When readers first get a glimpse at Bella in the book 1, she comes across as a spoil pretty princess. She is those things but as the story went along, I realized she is just genuinely nice. She is good. She has a great personality. Herein lies her faults. She is too nice. I am proud that she kicked her cheating fianc\u00e9 to the curb but it took too long. I didn\u2019t understand why she had to wait until the wedding.\u00a0 She knew from the start and he quickly tried to manipulate her into thinking it was her fault. Such a jerk!<\/p>

I never fully warmed up to Christian. His first strike is that he slept with his twin\u2019s girlfriend and impregnated her. The 2nd<\/sup> and most important strike is that his past reputation in the town as a jerk and ladies man never really changed. He never evolved in my eyes as a hero worthy of the heroine. Once he acknowledged to himself that he loved Bella, I wanted the switch to occur. The moment that would change his character. Nope! Never happened. I didn\u2019t even like how he proposed.<\/p>

I am super stoked that we get glimpses into Sophie\u2019s life. She is still cool. I am happy for her and Cain.\u00a0 Speaking of Cain\u2026I\u2019m glad he wanted to work on his repairing his relationship with Christian. The conflict with Ali seemed like it got pushed aside towards the end and the romance element became rushed.<\/p>

Overall, I\u2019m still entertained by this series. This family is not your typical cookie cutter around the way folks and I love it. I want to read about the next Jordan sibling. There is still more drama in this small town to peruse.<\/p>

Please read the first book in the series. This story starts at a crucial point in the first book. To the get full understanding of the characters, I believe it is best to read the first book.<\/p><p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Christian and Bella\u2019s story didn\u2019t pack the same punch as The Hookup. The writing has the same easy flow but the two main characters just didn\u2019t seem to wow me. It could be that I came into this with my own prejudices against them. When readers first get a glimpse at Bella in the book 1, she comes across as a spoil pretty princess. She is those things but as the story went along, I realized she is just genuinely nice. She is good. She has a great personality. Herein lies her faults. She is too nice. I am proud that she kicked her cheating fianc\u00e9 to the curb but it took too long. I didn\u2019t understand why she had to wait until the wedding.\u00a0 She knew from the start and he quickly tried to manipulate her into thinking it was her fault. Such a jerk!<\/p><p style=\"text-align: justify;\">I never fully warmed up to Christian. His first strike is that he slept with his twin\u2019s girlfriend and impregnated her. The 2<sup>nd<\/sup> and most important strike is that his past reputation in the town as a jerk and ladies man never really changed. He never evolved in my eyes as a hero worthy of the heroine. Once he acknowledged to himself that he loved Bella, I wanted the switch to occur. The moment that would change his character. Nope! Never happened. I didn\u2019t even like how he proposed.<\/p><p style=\"text-align: justify;\">I am super stoked that we get glimpses into Sophie\u2019s life. She is still cool. I am happy for her and Cain.\u00a0 Speaking of Cain\u2026I\u2019m glad he wanted to work on his repairing his relationship with Christian. The conflict with Ali seemed like it got pushed aside towards the end and the romance element became rushed.<\/p><p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Overall, I\u2019m still entertained by this series. This family is not your typical cookie cutter around the way folks and I love it. I want to read about the next Jordan sibling.
