Alice generously agreed to a virtual sit down with me here on the Blog.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><span style=\"color: #008000;\">~*~*~<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #ff0000;\"><strong>Question<\/strong><\/span><br \/>\nTell us about Moving In. What was  your inspiration for this book?<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #003300;\"><strong>Answer<\/strong><\/span><br \/>\nIt started with Suzie\u2019s House \u2013 a  bit of serial fiction I post on my blog every Friday.\u00a0 The book had  to tie in with it and use some of the same characters, at least peripherally,  but be able to stand on it\u2019s own.\u00a0 When I hit on the idea of  neighbors and friends, the character Diane was born.<\/p>\n<p>Diane and Suzie make good foils  for one another.\u00a0 Both of them are the Susie Homemaker type.\u00a0  They enjoy cooking and crafts, and remodeling.\u00a0 But Suzie is  quite comfortable with her roll of boarding house owner while Diane struggles  against the idea of becoming a housewife.<\/p>\n<p>From there I found Trigvey, the  man who would seem to be Diane\u2019s perfect match.\u00a0 As a doctor with  no outstanding loans, he can easily afford to let her stay home, and needs the  kind of attention he can\u2019t get any other way.\u00a0 They enjoy one  another\u2019s company and value one another, but when push comes to shove, both are  afraid to take on the roles a marriage would require of them.<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #ff0000;\"><strong>Question<\/strong><\/span><br \/>\nHow long have you been  writing?<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #003300;\"><strong>Answer<\/strong><\/span><br \/>\nI\u2019m almost afraid to answer  that.\u00a0 34 years.\u00a0 Yes, I\u2019ve very stubborn, and started  young.<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #ff0000;\"><strong>Question<\/strong><\/span><br \/>\nI love call stories. Can you tell  us yours?<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #003300;\"><strong>Answer<\/strong><\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"color: #800080;\"><strong>Moving In<\/strong><\/span> was suggested by my  editor.\u00a0 You know how you tell editors and agents about your web  presence while at conventions?\u00a0 Well, they really do check them  out.\u00a0 Vicky Reed didn\u2019t just read my blog, she got hooked on  Suzie\u2019s House.\u00a0 She asked if I had anything that tied in with the  series.\u00a0 I didn\u2019t, but it was easy for me to come up with  something.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><span style=\"color: #008000;\">~~~<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><span style=\"color: #003300;\"><a href=\"http:\/\/www.thewildrosepress.com\/moving-in-p-3841.html?zenid=8add58c2ca4008b45832018afdb42d25\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><strong><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft size-full wp-image-2229\" title=\"movinin\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/smittenbybooks.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/02\/movinin.jpg?resize=200%2C300\" alt=\"\" width=\"200\" height=\"300\" \/>Moving In<\/strong><\/a><br \/>\nAuthor: Alice Audrey<br \/>\nPublisher: Wild Rose Press<br \/>\nPub. Date: February 2010<br \/>\nNovella <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #800000;\"><em>When Diane and Trigvey move into the same building on the same day, more than  their suitcases get tangled up.<\/em><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #800000;\"><em>Trigvey never once doubted his calling to be a doctor, but an accident in the  ER has him doubting himself. Diane&#8217;s willingness to listen helps him get his  head on straight. If only he felt worthy of a woman like her.<\/em><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #800000;\"><em> Diane is the kind of woman who would love to be someone&#8217;s wife. Not a trophy  wife, or simply married, but the kind of wife whose job is to stay home and take  care of the family, even if the family is only a husband. She feeds Trigvey and  consoles him, and doesn&#8217;t even know she has him wrapped around her finger.  Jilted for a career-woman and raised by a bitter divorc\u00e9e, Diane no longer  believes in that dream. It&#8217;s up to Trigvey to convince her it could still be  real, if she chooses <\/em><em>him.<\/em><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><span style=\"color: #008000;\">~~~<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #ff0000;\"><strong>Question<\/strong><\/span><br \/>\nI know you\u2019ve written single  titles in the past. What\u2019s the biggest difference between that and writing this  novella?<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #003300;\"><strong>Answer<\/strong><\/span><br \/>\nActually, I\u2019ve written short  stories, novellas, category romance, single titles and epics.\u00a0 I\u2019ve  written science fiction, romantic suspense, historical romance, and romantic  comedies.\u00a0 This was the first \u201csweet\u201d book I\u2019d ever written, and  the first time I worked closely with an editor.\u00a0 I found both  somewhat challenging, but the differences in the process were no greater than  the differences between any of my other books.<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #ff0000;\"><strong>Question<\/strong><\/span><br \/>\nCan you share an excerpt of  Moving In you haven\u2019t posted anywhere else before.<\/p>\n<blockquote><p><span style=\"color: #003300;\"><strong>Answer<\/strong><\/span><br \/>\nTrigvey stared at the ceiling. He  needed things. A lot of things. He\u2019d lost control of himself and scared Diane  off, which made him feel useless.<\/p>\n<p>His thoughts circled endlessly as  day faded into twilight. When someone knocked on his door, he knew who it was,  but couldn\u2019t imagine why she\u2019d come back.<\/p>\n<p>He didn\u2019t mean to bound to his  feet, and certainly had no intention of rushing to the door, but arrived short  of breath and threw the door open.<\/p>\n<p>Diane didn\u2019t meet his eyes. \u201cI\u2026  um\u2026 Would you like something to eat?\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Did she feel sorry for him? Not  that it made much difference. He\u2019d eat anything to be with her.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cYeah. I\u2019d like that a lot. You  didn\u2019t cook for me, did you?\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI was going to cook for myself  anyway,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n<p>She led the way down the  stairs.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cYou really are going to have to  let me take you out sometime,\u201d he said quietly.<\/p>\n<p>She didn\u2019t respond and he  wondered if she\u2019d heard over the quiet clattering of their footsteps on the  steps. \u201cSome place nice,\u201d he continued.<\/p>\n<p>Still, she didn\u2019t say anything,  but when she opened the door to her apartment, a rolling wave of hearth and home  poured out.<\/p>\n<p>He glanced at the sofa. She\u2019d  added a throw pillow done in some kind of silky fabric with an Oriental design  to match the rug. A bookcase stood where his belongings had been.<\/p>\n<p>She hadn\u2019t wasted time erasing  every trace of his presence.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p><span style=\"color: #ff0000;\"><strong>Question<\/strong><\/span><br \/>\nI\u2019m the type of reader who has to  be taken with the hero. Why will readers love your hero?<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #003300;\"><strong>Answer<\/strong><\/span><br \/>\nTrigvey is quite the mix.\u00a0  When we first meet him, he looks like a total bad boy; sunglasses, ripped  jeans, three days growth of beard.\u00a0 He\u2019s arrogant and  irritated.\u00a0 Diane thinks he might be a bum.\u00a0 The next  time we see him he\u2019s wearing surgical scrubs and is wrung out body and  soul.<\/p>\n<p>He\u2019s an ER doctor under  particularly high pressure due to mismanagement at the hospital.\u00a0  When a simple mistake has disastrous results, he questions the  foundations of his life.\u00a0 He really tortures himself over it.<\/p>\n<p>Diane\u2019s love redeems him.\u00a0  She helps him forgive himself and get his priorities clear.\u00a0  He\u2019s smart enough to know what she does for him, but baffled about how to  return the favor when she seems so well put together.\u00a0 That won\u2019t  keep him from trying.<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #ff0000;\"><strong>Question<\/strong><\/span><br \/>\nWhat\u2019s coming up next for you?<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #003300;\"><strong>Answer<\/strong><\/span><br \/>\nI\u2019m working on a follow up book  using more characters from Suzie\u2019s House.\u00a0 This time the mother of  a boy who was abandoned to an abusive father turns out the be the  heroine.\u00a0 Yeah, I like challenges.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><span style=\"color: #008000;\">~*~*~<\/span><\/p>\n<p><strong>Alice will be with us today to take your questions and comments, and she&#8217;ll be giving away an electronic copy of <span style=\"color: #800080;\">MOVING IN<\/span> to one lucky commenter. <\/strong><\/p>\n<!--themify_builder_content-->\n<div id=\"themify_builder_content-2227\" data-postid=\"2227\" class=\"themify_builder_content themify_builder_content-2227 themify_builder tf_clear\">\n    <\/div>\n<!--\/themify_builder_content-->\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Today, please welcome my friend and ex-Avon Fanlit cohort, Alice Audrey, whose first book, MOVING IN was just released.
