Though their fields of study might take them to different corners of the world, they can all agree on this universal truth: when it comes to love and science, opposites attract and rivals make you burn\u2026<\/span><br \/><span style=\"color: #ffffff;\">\u00a0<\/span><br \/><span style=\"color: #ffffff;\">Logically, Sadie knows that civil engineers are supposed to\u00a0<span class=\"a-text-italic\">build<\/span>\u00a0bridges. However, as a woman of STEM she also understands that variables can change, and when you are stuck for hours in a tiny New York elevator with the man who broke your heart, you earn the right to burn that brawny, blond bridge to the ground. Erik can apologize all he wants, but to quote her rebel leader\u2014she\u2019d just as soon kiss a Wookiee.<\/span><br \/><span style=\"color: #ffffff;\">\u00a0<\/span><br \/><span style=\"color: #ffffff;\">Not even the most sophisticated of Sadie\u2019s superstitious rituals could have predicted such a disastrous reunion. But while she refuses to acknowledge the siren call of Erik\u2019s steely forearms or the way his voice softens when he offers her his sweater, Sadie can\u2019t help but wonder if there might be more layers to her cold-hearted nemesis than meet the eye. There really isn\u2019t time for any relationship. However, she meets <strong>Erik<\/strong> at work when she is trying to make a mad dash for a croissant. The two click and they link up for a one-night stand which is amazing.<\/p><p style=\"font-weight: 400; text-align: justify;\">Sadie discovers something about Erik and she doesn\u2019t reach out to him anymore. The two paths cross again when they are stuck in an elevator. Erik wants to know what happened. This is where the story takes a turn.<\/p><p style=\"font-weight: 400; text-align: justify;\">I thought I was going to read a quick and quirky short romance but the plot completely failed. I don\u2019t know if it is the fact that this is a novella or the fact that the author didn\u2019t draw the connection for me. I just could not understand how Sadie didn\u2019t communicate effectively with Erik. For someone to be so smart, there was a miscommunication that didn\u2019t need to occur. This is one of my biggest pet peeves in storylines.<\/p><p style=\"font-weight: 400; text-align: justify;\">The character development is lacking because the only thing I can tell you is that Sadie is very immature. She doesn\u2019t grow at all from the first page. She holds onto her hostility towards Erik until the very end. So why should I believe they belong together?<\/p><p style=\"font-weight: 400; text-align: justify;\">Overall, this novella did little to get me excited. There really isn\u2019t time for any relationship. However, she meets <strong>Erik<\/strong> at work when she is trying to make a mad dash for a croissant. The two click and they link up for a one-night stand which is amazing.<\/p><p style=\"font-weight: 400; text-align: justify;\">Sadie discovers something about Erik and she doesn\u2019t reach out to him anymore. The two paths cross again when they are stuck in an elevator. Erik wants to know what happened. This is where the story takes a turn.<\/p><p style=\"font-weight: 400; text-align: justify;\">I thought I was going to read a quick and quirky short romance but the plot completely failed. I don\u2019t know if it is the fact that this is a novella or the fact that the author didn\u2019t draw the connection for me. I just could not understand how Sadie didn\u2019t communicate effectively with Erik. For someone to be so smart, there was a miscommunication that didn\u2019t need to occur. This is one of my biggest pet peeves in storylines.<\/p><p style=\"font-weight: 400; text-align: justify;\">The character development is lacking because the only thing I can tell you is that Sadie is very immature. She doesn\u2019t grow at all from the first page. She holds onto her hostility towards Erik until the very end. So why should I believe they belong together?<\/p><p style=\"font-weight: 400; text-align: justify;\">Overall, this novella did little to get me excited.
