I needed to know how this enemies-to-lovers story was going to pan out. They always say save the best for last, and this one definitely had plenty of conflict.<\/p><p style=\"text-align: justify;\">We have <strong>Lady Kay Matheson<\/strong>, survivor of not one, but two scandals. She\u2019s finally engaged, and this one won\u2019t run away or ditch her at the altar, of that she\u2019s sure. Being firmly on the shelf, she had no choice but to accept the offer from an American millionaire. She just didn\u2019t expect to have her wedding be the same day as the wedding of the man who brought her to ruin in the first place&#8230; <strong>Devlin Sharpe<\/strong>.<\/p><p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Devlin is a fifth son and a hotel owner. Grab the smelling salts. The sheer horror of a peer who works is enough to send any self-respecting member of the ton snubbing their noses. Except, Devlin has finally brought himself around to the idea of marrying. Not for love, of course&#8230; no, not after Kay broke his heart and jilted him. Wait, did I read that right? He was the offended party? I must know more.<\/p><p style=\"text-align: justify;\">What you just read is what kept the pages turning. I was anxious to understand how two people who were so in love fell out of it and wasted over a decade being apart. Except when Kay and Devlin meet again, they quickly realize their emotions aren\u2019t in the past, but merely simmering under the surface.<\/p><p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Guhrke does an amazing job of navigating a complicated story and shifting enemies-to-lovers into a reunion story that could make a gal swoon. I really loved Devlin and Kay\u2019s tale, which put me through a lovely gauntlet of emotions. At one point, I was yelling at my phone (I read on it), demanding action.<\/p><p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Do you need to read the entire series to enjoy this book? No, but I don\u2019t see why you wouldn\u2019t want to. Still, if you\u2019re on the hunt for tropes, this book has them in spades. It\u2019s a great tale that fits well into Guhrke\u2019s canon, including a talent for writing turn-of-the-century historical romance. Also, this has a nice slow burn. I needed to know how this enemies-to-lovers story was going to pan out. They always say save the best for last, and this one definitely had plenty of conflict.<\/p><p style=\"text-align: justify;\">We have <strong>Lady Kay Matheson<\/strong>, survivor of not one, but two scandals. She\u2019s finally engaged, and this one won\u2019t run away or ditch her at the altar, of that she\u2019s sure. Being firmly on the shelf, she had no choice but to accept the offer from an American millionaire. She just didn\u2019t expect to have her wedding be the same day as the wedding of the man who brought her to ruin in the first place... <strong>Devlin Sharpe<\/strong>.<\/p><p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Devlin is a fifth son and a hotel owner. Grab the smelling salts. The sheer horror of a peer who works is enough to send any self-respecting member of the ton snubbing their noses. Except, Devlin has finally brought himself around to the idea of marrying. Not for love, of course... no, not after Kay broke his heart and jilted him. Wait, did I read that right? He was the offended party? I must know more.<\/p><p style=\"text-align: justify;\">What you just read is what kept the pages turning. I was anxious to understand how two people who were so in love fell out of it and wasted over a decade being apart. Except when Kay and Devlin meet again, they quickly realize their emotions aren\u2019t in the past, but merely simmering under the surface.<\/p><p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Guhrke does an amazing job of navigating a complicated story and shifting enemies-to-lovers into a reunion story that could make a gal swoon. I really loved Devlin and Kay\u2019s tale, which put me through a lovely gauntlet of emotions. At one point, I was yelling at my phone (I read on it), demanding action.<\/p><p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Do you need to read the entire series to enjoy this book? No, but I don\u2019t see why you wouldn\u2019t want to. Still, if you\u2019re on the hunt for tropes, this book has them in spades. It\u2019s a great tale that fits well into Guhrke\u2019s canon, including a talent for writing turn-of-the-century historical romance. Also, this has a nice slow burn.
