Yes, you get three sinfully seductive rakes inside each novel\u2014\u2013both <span style=\"color: #800000;\"><strong>AWAKENED BY A KISS<\/strong><\/span> (out now) and my newest release, <span style=\"color: #0000ff;\"><strong>THE PRINCESS IN HIS BED<\/strong><\/span>!<\/p>\n<p>I know what you\u2019re thinking; that doesn\u2019t explain the setting. Seventeenth century France?\u00a0 <em>Really?<\/em><\/p>\n<p>Yes, really.\u00a0 Here\u2019s why.\u00a0 I love history. I love Regency England, and I love fairy tales. How do these connect?\u00a0 Allow me to explain.<\/p>\n<p>Long before the Brothers Grimm and <strong>Hans Christian Andersen<\/strong>, 17<sup>th<\/sup> century French lawyer\/writer Charles Perrault did something no one had done before.\u00a0 He was the first to write down folklore and add morals to his stories\u2014stories like Cinderella, Sleeping Beauty, Little Red Riding Hood and Bluebeard, to name a few.\u00a0 He was the creator of <strong>THE TALES OF MOTHER GOOSE<\/strong>!<\/p>\n<p>At first, his stories were frowned upon.\u00a0 Especially by those who attended those renowned 17<sup>th<\/sup> c. salons of Paris\u2014places of enlightenment, hosted by the women of the upper class, where the aristocracy and the literati (poets, dramatists, grammarians) gathered to discuss and debate history, religion, politics and literature.\u00a0 After all, these tales had been popular with the illiterate.\u00a0 The intellectually and socially elite felt it was beneath them to acknowledge Perrault\u2019s fairy tales.<\/p>\n<p><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft size-full wp-image-4197\" title=\"awakenedbyakiss\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/theseasonforromance.com\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/08\/awakenedbyakiss1.jpg?resize=159%2C239\" alt=\"\" width=\"159\" height=\"239\" \/>But fairy tales have an appeal and magic of their very own.\u00a0 They\u2019re wonderful, timeless and rather irresistible (sort of like the rakes in <span style=\"color: #0000ff;\"><strong>THE PRINCESS IN HIS BED<\/strong><\/span> *winks*).<\/p>\n<p>In short order, the genre of fairy tales took off and soon became a highly fashionable subject of conversation at every salon in the city.<\/p>\n<p>But just what was Perrault\u2019s world like?\u00a0 Well now, it was just as refined as Regency England.\u00a0 I kid you not!\u00a0 Full of decadence, you had distinguished lords and lovely ladies who lived in city mansions and sprawling palatial country estates. There were spectacular ballrooms and elaborate masquerade balls.
