Lure of the Wicked
Karina Cooper
Heat Level: 4 (Hot)

Naomi West was plucked from one prison and placed undercover in another: the gilded cage that is Timeless, New Seattle's premier spa and resort, where owner Phinneas Clarke—the most seductive man Naomi has ever met—may be hiding a killer.

She's an agent of the Holy Order, trained to hunt the guilty and render justice. But while she's tracking down a rogue agent on a killing spree, Phin is determined to uncover her most damning—and dangerous—secrets. Whatever the cost.

Lure of the Wicked is the second book in Katrina Cooper Dark Mission series.

Naomi West is on a mission: to hunt down a rouge missionary and kill him. Naomi works for the Dark Mission and it’s her job to hunt and kill witches. Her new assignment sends her undercover and into the upscale Timeless Spa where she meets Phinneas Clark, the owner. She has a job to do and can’t let the handsome Phinn distract her.

As Naomi searches for the missionary as series of dangerous events take place. There is a witch on the loss in the spa that keeps trying to kill her and to make matters worse, a woman from Naomi’s past shows up throwing her off her game.

Phinn has a feeling that Naomi may not be the spoiled heiress she says she is. Instead of being pampered she is usually running straight into the commotion.  He can’t seem to understand her but is drawn to her.

So as I was reading all I kept hearing in my head was “Are you a good witch or a bad witch?” but it is a completely relevant question. Naomi is trained to kill witches, any witch but what she didn’t realize is that not all witches are evil. And after some twists and turns, Naomi really has to ask herself if what she does, kill every witch she meets, is really the right thing.

Phinn and Naomi are HOT together. They heat things up every time they are together. Whether it’s in the gym, the limo or a bed, the temperature goes up when they meet.

I really, really like Naomi. I thought she was very well developed and I could really understand her. She has this hard and tough exterior, but she hides her personal and vulnerable side.

Lure of The Wicked is not a book to be picked up lightly. You need to go all in and immerse yourself in this world of witches. There is a lot to focus on and you need to really pay attention.

One of my main complaints is the way things ended, or didn’t end, with her mother. It was a bit of a dead end. There was this great tension that never really got resolved, I wanted a big knock out, drag out fight between them. Also, the ending felt a little rushed and ended abruptly. I’m hoping that the next book picks up where this left off.

I would definitely recommend reading the series in order. I would also highly recommend reading the novella Before the Witches, if just for the epilogue. I absolutely loved it and it sets up the world in which we are reading about.

I’m putting Karina Cooper on my author’s to watch list.
