Genre: Romantic Suspense
Series: Gravediggers
Book: 2
Heat: Hot

New York Times and USA TODAY bestselling author Liliana Hart returns to her suspenseful Gravediggers series featuring five dead men tasked with saving the world…and their latest member who risks it all for love.

Sometimes the dead do rise…

Miller Darling is one of the most popular romance novelists of her time. Not bad for a woman who doesn’t believe in romance. She’s as logical as they come, and she doesn’t believe in happily-ever-afters. What she does believe in is family, so when her brother disappears, she doesn’t think twice about packing her bag and her laptop and heading out to find him.

Colin Moreau has an axe to grind. Of all the Gravediggers, he’s the most reluctant in his new role as dead man walking. He’s angry, and being stuck in the tiny town of Last Stop, Texas, might as well be purgatory. He misses his country and the life he had before he was betrayed. The only thing keeping him sane are the men who are like him—the Gravediggers—and the woman who makes his head spin. He’s never met anyone like Miller Darling. She’s not intimidated by his scowls, and damned if he doesn’t find that appealing.

When Miller sneaks out of town in the dead of night, her suitcase in tow, he has no choice but to follow. He’s made an oath to the Gravediggers. Only death can separate them. But he’s willing to risk it all to follow the one woman who drives him crazy halfway around the world. But when the ones who own his soul find out that he’s deserted them, there will be nowhere to hide.

Miller Darling is a romance novelist whose head is always focused on writing her next book. With little to no excitement in her life, she thrives on her work. When an unexpected package arrives on her front door with a mysterious letter about her brother, Miller finally focuses her attention on something other than her work. In order to find out what happened to her brother, she will need the help of Elias.

Elias is a former SEAL who is pissed off that he is stuck in Last Stop, Texas with the other Gravediggers. He is wildly attracted to Miller but has no plans to stick around. When he realizes that her brother is a SEAL that he worked with and her family is caught up into something big and heavy, he enlists himself to help Miller out.

In some ways I enjoyed this one way more than the first book. The story is stronger and more fleshed out. The author put in some time researching and making the whole treasure hunt theme more authentic. Miller’s parents died in a plane crash and her brother’s disappearance reveals that they were looking for Solomon’s lost treasures. Of course, there are bad guys who aim to take them out. So action and drama pursues.

Elias and Miller’s banter provided great comic relief when the story started to lag a bit. I actually didn’t know how I felt about them but there is no denying that they have chemistry. At the end, I loved how Elias finally came around. Miller didn’t hesitate or deny her emotions.

The side characters are still there however they are not as in your face as book one. I have not warmed up to Eve (the one running the Gravediggers). Despite Elias not wanting to fully embrace his new role with the Gravediggers, I didn’t think she should have stepped in to push him into it. She is a bit cold and I’m hoping there is more to her than the ice chill effect. Readers get to see what happens with Tess and Deacon. I am anticipating the next book in the series.
