Meet the Kincade brothers: they’ll do what it takes to protect their legacy—but what happens when love gets in the way?
Declan Kincade has spent so much time chasing success he’s almost forgotten how to just live. Lately, though, his all-business routine has been thrown into disarray. Brooke Hastings is the best employee Dec’s ever had: polished, capable, and intelligent. After four years, he’s just realized that she’s also smoking hot. But their working relationship is too valuable to stake on a fling, no matter how mind-bendingly pleasurable it promises to be . . .
What’s worse than never meeting the right man? Finding him, and then working side-by-side every day while he remains absolutely blind to your existence. That is, until one temptation-packed road trip changes everything. Teaching her gorgeous, driven boss how to cut loose and have fun is the toughest challenge Brooke’s ever faced. But it’s one that could give both of them exactly what they need, if Dec will take a chance on a perfect—and perfectly unexpected—love . . .
Calling all fans of Melody Anne and Bella Andre! If you love books about big, loud, messy families then this series is for you. In Candis Terry’s second book in the Sunshine Creek Vineyard Series, Perfect for You, we get the second (more serious) half of the twins’ (Jordan and Declan) happily-ever-after.
Declan Kincade has worked hard in life to overcome his dyslexia and become a successful member of society. He is a good boss, a great financial advisor and, well, kind of a bore. He needs a little excitement in life, someone to loosen him up and teach him to have fun.
Enter Brooke Hastings. For four years, Brooke has worked alongside the man of her dreams. She’s his right-hand woman. The one who knows what he needs before he does. The one he can count on anytime, anyplace. And while she loves a job well done, Brooke has always hoped for more in her life; specifically, a man who loves her just as much as she loves him. A scenic road trip, some karaoke and a few meddling family members later, Brooke might just get what she desires.
Right off the bat, I loved both of these characters. Declan, or Dec as he is called throughout the book, is a kind of a stuffed shirt. I wanted to reach into the book, ruffle his hair and loosen his tie… good thing Brooke was there to do it for me. Terry does an excellent job of allowing two characters, who are the complete opposite, to feed off each other.
B: “Boring.”D: “I like ahi.”
B: “Good for you. But why not expand your horizons? Eating the same old same old every day is like having missionary sex every time the mood strikes."
Oh, Brooke, you crack me up. I love that Terry did not change Brooke to fit into Declan’s uptight lifestyle. Instead, she used the events Brooke had experienced as a child to shape her and give her a sunny outlook on life. And boy did Brooke need that optimism to break down Dec’s walls, one brick at a time.
Dec’s family is a huge part of the book as Sunshine Creek Vineyards is the family business, left to Dec and his siblings after the passing of their parents. Each member of the family has their own unique personality to add to the family dynamic. The siblings are faced with some pretty big secrets left by their parents, forcing them to come together to handle the ramifications.
While Perfect for You is obviously about the growing feelings between Dec and Brooke, it also tells the story of Dec and his relationship with his siblings. Brooke not only does a wonderful job of forcing Dec to seek some fun out of life, but she also makes Dec realize the importance of family and having good relationships with his siblings.
At times, it felt like Dec was a little thick-headed and stubborn as a mule, but ultimately, he recognized the wonderful woman that had been by his side for the past four years...although Brooke definitely made him work for it. ;)
