Ten Reasons to like my Cinderella!…by Lila DiPasqua

For those who have read AWAKENED BY A KISS and THE PRINCESS IN HIS BED, you know they’re each collections with three fairy tale retellings in each book.

But my upcoming August release, A MIDNIGHT DANCE, (a standalone book) isn’t a collection at all!  My first full-length novel is based on one of the most famous and beloved fairy tales of all time . . . Cinderella!

Now, I know what you’re thinking: I grew up reading Cinderella, Lila. Will I like your version?

Here are ten reasons why I think you just might:

1. There’s one strong, smart, independent heroine. Our Cinder-girl, Sabine Laurent is definitely a damsel in distress, but she’s not waiting for anyone to rescue her.  She’s desperate.  Her family faces a debtor’s prison and she’s taking matters into her own hands.  In fact, the object of her girlhood infatuation, Jules de Moutier, a man she’d dubbed her “Dark Prince” (because he’s tall, dark and oh so handsome, of course *smiles*) is now her enemy and the very man she intends to dupe and steal from.  Jules’s silver treasure would solve all of our impoverished beauty’s problems.  All she has to do is pose as a courtesan named Elise and feed him the tainted wine. Easy, no?

2. There’s one devilishly seductive, charming rake.  Using seduction on the hero, Jules, our “Prince Charming”, is not as easy as Sabine anticipated.  Not when he stirs her body as well as her heart.  Revenge can be complicated. *winks* As Fresh Fiction put it: A MIDNIGHT DANCE is a sexy fairytale that will make you swoon. Jules de Moutier is the prince charming all women dream of.”

3. There’s a glass slipper.  Sabine’s favorite shoes are entirely covered in glass beading.  They prove to be quite lucky.  And yes, there is a scene where our hero places it back on her foot. *sighs*

4. There’s a ball.  In a room full of lords and ladies, our Cinder-girl, Sabine has a dance with her Dark Prince . . . and it’s just as wonderful as she’d always dreamed.  This is NOT good!

5. There’s a fairy godmother in the form of a highly opinionated, but loveable apothecary.

6. There’s a stepmother, of sorts.  Sabine’s late father was a famous playwright.  Louise was his star actress and longtime mistress.  Though she’s a diva, she does help out by using her acting skills in the big silver swindle. 😉

7.  There are “stepsisters” (Louise’s daughters).  Two of them.  And they only complicate matters and make Sabine’s life more difficult.

8    There is a shocking villain.  But it’s not the stepmother or stepsisters.  That’s all I’m saying.  😉

9.  There’s plenty romance to feed a romance readers soul—as Fresh Fiction stated, “Readers might want to keep a tissue handy for the emotional ending.”. . . Or as National bestselling author Sylvia Day put it, A MIDNIGHT DANCE is “…searingly romantic!” Yes, that means there’s both heat and heart. J

10. This isn’t a straight retelling!  It’s fresh and different—with twists and a few surprises! DiPasqua’s latest Fiery Tale is not your typical Cinderella story. This fresh and sexy retelling of the classic fairy tale features a spirited heroine, a dangerous “dark prince,” sizzling passion and plenty of historical intrigue!RT Book Reviews.

A MIDNIGHT DANCE

A Fiery Tale

Lila DiPasqua

Berkley Sensation

HISTORICAL ROMANCE

August 2011

ISBN: 978-0425241981

Inspired by the tale of Cinderella, Lila DiPasqua weaves a steamy historical romance that offers a glass slipper, a dangerous deception, and an impoverished beauty determined to find her handsome prince…and make him pay.

Born into wealth, Sabine Laurent and her twin sister lived a life of luxury, their father’s prestigious theater frequented by royalty and aristocracy alike. And Sabine dreamed of her own prince charming—the devastatingly handsome Jules de Moutier.

That was before the loss of her sister and her family’s fall from grace—a disaster Sabine blames on the Moutier family. Now, with her father’s death, she’s inherited his sizable debt and the responsibility of caring for his spoiled long-time mistress and her two wastrel daughters. But with the help of Sabine’s eccentric friends—the balance of her father’s acting troupe—she plans to get very close to her old infatuation, seduce the rake—and make away with a fortune.

Resisting Jules’s skillful mouth and tantalizing touch is not as easy as Sabine supposed. And soon she must decide whether her desire for vengeance is greater than her desire for her one and only prince…

I think I’ve already read your excerpts 4 or 5 times before just waiting for the release so I knew that Jules tells Raymond not to give the brandy to his men and any of them that drink it won’t share in any of the bounty that he has coming to him.

PS: Mr. Dipasqua is doing a fantastic job on interviewing the other husbands and boyfriends!

  44. Lila
It sounds like another awesome book – congratulations on the release. The cover is beautiful and I’m not just talking about Jimmy Thomas. Cinderella I think started my love of historical romances even before I knew what they were. I think it is the basis of all H (Prince Charmning sterotype) and h (Cinderella – girl deserves better than current circumstances) of romances. Congrats Lila on being such a success, I was hooked with your first book and have A Midnight Dance on my list a long while, can’t wait for the release.
