Here’s a chance for some lucky commenter to nab an advance copy of Eloisa James’s THE UGLY DUCHESS. Click the cover for pre-order links.

How can she dare to imagine he loves her . . . when all London calls her The Ugly Duchess?

Theodora Saxby is the last woman anyone expects the gorgeous James Ryburn, heir to the Duchy of Ashbrook, to marry. But after a romantic proposal before the prince himself, even practical Theo finds herself convinced of her soon-to-be duke’s passion.

Still, the tabloids give the marriage six months.

Theo would have given it a lifetime . . . until she discovers that James desired not her heart, and certainly not her countenance, but her dowry.

Society was shocked by their wedding . . . and is scandalized by their separation.

Now James faces the battle of his life, convincing Theo that he loves the duckling who blossomed into the swan.

And Theo will quickly find that, for a man with the soul of a pirate, All’s Fair in Love—and War.

  1. I like so many things about this cover and title. The Ugly Duchess, yet we don’t see her face. (Especially handy because if anyone resembled this model they would probably be a bit bummed and not even read the book blurb, much less purchase.)

Her gown being slightly unlaced is the only thing “romance-y” about it. AND the book’s recommended by Lisa Kleypas.

    Sounds great.

And Bev, you give away more books and prizes than any other blog around. 🙂

  3. I’ve heard so much about this book, and would love to win it. Normally, it’s the flawed hero that we fall in love with. What a great idea to write about a flawed heroine who we can fall in love with too. Thank you for such a great opportunity. 🙂

  30. I almost want to read it just to be convinced! I generally hate reading books about heroines being ugly because in my opinion the whole point of reading one of these novels in the first place is to escape from reality and read about a fantasy world that has certain core elements of beauty, obvious attraction and chemistry. I find that very hard to believe when the heroine is ugly, it puts a dose of uncomfortable reality into the novel which in turn prevents me from delving into the novel like I would want to.

  31. Eloisa never fails to write a story that pulls you into the story and makes you understand the characters personally.

She makes me laugh, she makes me cry and always takes me on a fairy tale ride! Once again it sounds like she’s come up with a story that will pull on your heart strings and you’ll be routing for Theodoro and James to realize that there spouse is just their right match!

Thanks for the opportunity to win a copy of The Ugly Duchess!

  32. I read some blurbs about this book and it sounds like a winner. Who among us has not felt like an “Ugly Duchess” or “duckling”? I want to see how this romance turns out, don’t you? Please enter me in the drawing!
