Isabeau has faced tragedies in her life. She lost her parents and her sight in a violent attack. She now wants to try to live in peace, but her past may still have her in harm’s way. She is surrounded by a good group of people but still, trouble has found her. Isabeau’s best friend’s brother stepped in to help, and the attraction is undeniable between them.

I must first warn that while this advertised as the first book in the series, it is not a true standalone. There are many characters from a previous series that are heavily involved in the storyline, which complicates things. At times, I felt a little lost or that I should know information that was not privy to me in the detailing of the story. Fans who have read the other books may feel differently.

The steam factor is there. This is Lora Leigh, so there is no question about the level of sexiness in her books. However, the character development is off. The main characters fall in love too fast. I’m basically saying that it was on sight, which leaves little to no room for a substantial connection. In my eyes, this is just purely lust. However, the author calls it love.

Tracker is this take-charge Alpha male who does over-the-top things throughout the story. The other men in the book are just as outrageous, which almost makes it comical at times. Instead of feeling turned off, I rolled my eyes a few times.

Now with all that I just said, I still really enjoyed this story. I have read a dozen or so books by this author. I know what to expect. This may not have been the best for me by her, but I’m still a long-time fan of hers and look forward to the other books in the series.
