I hope everyone had a great Thanksgiving. I know I did. Now it’s full speed ahead to Christmas. I’m exhausted just thinking about it. My son has been bugging me to put up our tree since early November. He won’t be put off any longer. Sigh. 🙂

So what’s up? Well, as of early this morning, the tally for free downloads of ALL’S FAIR IN LOVE & SEDUCTION has reached 126,417. That’s a little more than halfway to my goal of 250,000. When I reach that goal, I’m going to give away a Kindle Fire.

In other really great news, I’m saying KUDOS to Avon Books for their latest pricing move. What did they do? Well they’re currently making digital books much more affordable if you pre-order. It’s a very smart move on their part since pre-orders count toward the first day of sales so by pricing books like Julie Anne Long’s HOW THE MARQUESS WAS WON, Sarah MacLean’s A ROGUE BY ANY OTHER NAME, Lorraine Heath’s SHE TEMPTS THE DUKE, Caroline Linden’s BLAME IT ON BATH, and Gaelen Foley’s MY RUTHLESS PRINCE at a low $4.99, they all have a better chance of hitting one or more of the ‘lists’ on their first week out of the gate. It certainly encourages fans and readers to pre-order to lock in that price because the price appears to go up the closer it gets to the release date. By release date, I expect it will be back at the agency priced $7.99 (for mmpb). So I encourage you to get these deals while you can.

You can also pre-order Eloisa James’s THE DUKE IS MINE and Stephanie Laurens’ THE CAPTURE OF THE EARL OF GLENRAE for $6.99 (not too bad, $1.00 off). I’m not sure if this is something they’re trying out but I can guarantee you this, it will help to increase their digital sales.

And if I may…I just have to post this cover because it has totally blown me away. Talk about gorgeous to the nth degree. Avon’s art department has done it again. Sarah, I’m torn between awe and fits of envy. I already wanted Sarah MacLean’s next book. Her cover just made me want it more. 🙂

  1. I am hearing the same pleas from my kids. But how is it that they never stick around to finish this Christmas decorating they want so much!

  2. More books to add to my list to buy! I love Avon’s art department as well. The cover is breathtaking.

  5. What a beautiful cover for Sarah MacLean’s A Rogue by Any Other Name. Looking forward to the new releases and your story about Alex.

  6. Oh I know, the cover is *gorgeous*. I plan to buy the book anyway, maybe I should pre-order it now…!

  7. Congrats on reaching the halfway mark!

I’m glad that ebook pre-order prices have been lowered. It gives readers a chance to try out new authors.

  8. thanks for the heads up on the pre-order prices! love saving money (while spending it, of course)! 🙂

  9. I’d buy that book in dead tree form just for the cover. I hope it also comes with the digital version. (and I am so glad I read in color)

thanks for the heads up on Avon. I will be doing more preordering!

  10. Thanks for the shout out for ROGUE’s gorgeous cover! I know exactly how you feel…I was pretty dazed by it myself…Avon is outdoing themselves on the covers for the Rules of Scoundrels series…I can’t wait to show off the next one (which is my favorite yet!)

    xoxo

  11. What a beautiful cover! Makes me want to pick up the book without reading the back!
I can’t wait to get my tree, I just have to convince the hubby it’s not too early!! =)
    Let the Christmas festivities begin!

  12. Is it too late to change my year favourite cover for the year… lol. LOVE IT!
Putting up the Christmas tree was always my favourite thing to do with my dad, so Kudos to you, Bev. You must spoil your son like you spoil us. Thanks for the info about Avon. 🙂

  13. One of the many benefits touted about ebooks vs paper ones was the fact that they were cheaper. If you’re like me the majority of my purchases are mass markets and unfortuantely their ebook counterparts are often the same price. Kudos indeed to Avon for making my transition to ebooks worthwhile.

  14. I’m glad to hear you had a great Thanksgiving! Thanks for telling us about these Avon deals.
Sarah MacLean’s new book does have a really gorgeous cover!

  15. I love the idea of cheaper prices for pre-orders of ebooks…smart move by the publisher as there are certain authors I’m sure we all just auto-buy!

And that cover is gorgeous. I’ve seen it posted somewhere else (I cannot remember which blog) and was impressed.

  16. The cover is STUNNING. Who ever first said you should not judge a book by its cover needs to see A ROGUE BY ANY OTHER NAME.

  17. I so agree Sarah’s cover is stunning. But then so are the covers for the Stephanie Laurens’ Cynster Girls trilogy! All beautiful.

While I’m sure many authors have talked about this before, I just never paid that much attention, until now…if you click on ‘like’ at Amazon near the book title and also click on tags, it all helps the author in placement ranks, etc. So, click away readers!

  18. I’ve pre-ordered several Avon titles at the $4.99 price. Makes it easier to buy more books!
I like the dress and the color scheme though I don’t like the heroine’s pose or expression on the Sarah MacLean cover. I’ll be reading it regardless of the cover–I love her books!

  19. Thank you for the heads-up on pricing.
It’s wonderful that Avon Books is willing to drop a bit, I can get some more books now!!
    WooHoo!! Pre-ordering….here I come!
With this list of great authors, how can I not get some wonderful books on my Kindle.

” tally for free downloads of ALL’S FAIR IN LOVE & SEDUCTION has reached 126,417.”…….wonderful numbers Beverley!

  20. I have always seen the pre-orders but have never understood the benefit if you order a Kindle version. But, now, I have just preordered two books, and contemplating a third. I never do that, but you are right, that many of the books I know I will buy (even if its sometime after its initial release) I will actually preorder if I get a discounted price. Thank you for the information, I haven’t read about this discount from any other sources and I routinely scour a bunch of book blogs. As a romance book reading community we should spread the word on this, perhaps more publishers will adopt the preorder discount – good job to you.

  21. Thanks for sharing the info about pre-order pricing. And for sharing the cover – it is beautiful! Congrats all around to AVON and the authors!!
